Bio

Dr. Carletta N. Artis is an Assistant Professor at Regent University in the Counseling Ministries Department. She is a servant leader and a transformative leader in her community. She has led the way in higher education for more than 17 years, beginning as an adjunct instructor and then full-time assistant professor teaching, advising and mentoring a diverse group of students from Texas to Virginia, traditional and non-tradition, military and civilian, online, video teleconference, and face to face.

Artis’ leadership has allowed her to serve diverse populations as chief of psychology in a federal correctional facility; program supervisor in human services, director in the fields of adoption and foster care; supervisor and counselor to support families experiencing homelessness; professor to active-duty military service members, retired veterans and military spouses; as well as mental health consultant to churches and pastoral staff.

With a background in psychology, coaching and education, and a doctorate in clinical psychology, Artis offers insight for personal and professional development to hundreds of mentees as well as a focus on student-centered teaching and academic excellence that bridges the gap between higher education and application.

Artis is spiritually grounded and brings extraordinary empathy and wisdom. She is also an author, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, newspaper columnist, and has served as a radio and television host. She enjoys bringing awareness to mental health, behavioral health, and resources for everyday problems to help communities enjoy healthier lives, relationships, and families.
