Zachary K. Dawson, Ph.D.

Bio

Dr. Zachary K. Dawson serves as an assistant professor at the Regent University School of Divinity. Dawson has a range of academic specialties, including Greek language and linguistics, the history of biblical interpretation, hermeneutics and methods of biblical interpretation, the Synoptic Gospels, and Acts. His interests also include the Greco-Roman and Jewish contexts of the New Testament.

Dawson completed his B.A. in Bible from Oklahoma Christian University, an M.A. in Biblical Languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in New Testament from McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His career in higher education began in 2016 with teaching terms at Regent University, McMaster Divinity College, Southern Nazarene University, and Oklahoma Christian University.

Dawson, an ordained minister, served in the leadership of his local church before joining the Regent faculty in July 2023, where he counts it a privilege to educate and mentor those God is raising to be among the next generation of church leaders. He hopes to instill a love of the original languages of God’s Word in each seminarian so that they might treasure the depths of scripture throughout their lifetime.

Dr. Dawson and his wife Morgan, both Oklahoma natives, have two children—Eli and Evelyn.
