University Writing Center
Welcome to Regent's University Writing Center. The Writing Center's services, seminar and resources are available to all Regent students (on-campus and online), faculty, and staff. Located in Student Center Room 135, the Writing Center provides a place where even the most experienced writers can improve their skills through collaboration with a coach who is familiar with the challenges of academic writing. Coaching is available in-person, over the phone, and via Wimba for those with access to our Virtual Writing Center Blackboard forum.
How the Process Works
- The Writing Center offers one-on-one assistance to any Regent University student, faculty, or staff member working on a Regent-related writing task. Our coaches follow a tutoring model that offers individualized guidance by applying principles of effective writing rather than focusing purely on "fixing" a paper. In addition, coaches help writers evaluate the sources of problems they encounter by reading segments of the work together, thus eliciting the writer's ideas and suggesting solutions accordingly.
- Coaching is available in 45-minute sessions for scheduled appointments.
- "Walk-In" sessions (15-20 min) are also welcome but are contingent upon coach availability; to ensure accessibility, scheduled appointments are recommended, particularly during peak seasons.
