After completing our DBA in finance & investing, you can:

  • Analyze the financial model and operating performance of a company compared to its competitors and market trends to determine the attractiveness of an investment in the company.
  • Develop and educate on portfolio and investment strategies that consider risk-return trade-offs.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: 

  • Employment in business and financial operations occupations is projected to grow 8% from 2020 to 2030, adding about 750,800 new jobs in the U.S.
  • A growing economy and a complex tax and regulatory environment are expected to generate strong demand for accountants and auditors. In addition, increasing usage of data and market research to understand customers and product demand will lead to growing demand for market research analysts. 
  • In 2021, the median annual income for business and financial occupations was $30,000 higher per year than the median wage for all occupations in the U.S.

This program is a minimum of 54 credit hours in length and the concentration course is outlined as follows:

How to formulate and research a problem; collecting and analyzing data to support a decision. Persuading others to join in one’s recommended action.
Principles of risk, return, liquidity, horizon planning, inflation, and taxation applied to personal financial planning of discretionary income, saving, credit, investing, and retirement planning.
Use and generate financial statements to perform comprehensive analyses of firm operating performance, financial position, and earnings management. Non-financial indicators and company reports are used to understand management incentives, firm investments and performance.
Managing financial assets by establishing appropriate investment objectives, developing optimal portfolio strategies considering, risk-return tradeoffs, investing the assets, and evaluating of investment performance. Includes choosing stocks or bonds for a style-specific portfolio as well as setting an asset allocation across asset classes and choosing managers for each.

2024-25 Semester Check-In Deadlines

All students are expected to check-in for the semester two weeks before the session start date. Students should apply, be accepted, enroll in their first courses, and confirm a plan to pay for their courses prior to this date.

Prerequisites

Doctoral applicants must hold an MBA or a master’s degree in a business-related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Admissions Requirements

Step 1: Apply to Regent University

Submit your application using the Regent University Online Application.

Step 2: Submit Your Unofficial Transcripts

Submit your unofficial transcripts to regent.edu/items.

Upon submitting your application, you will receive an email requesting authorization for Regent University to obtain your official transcripts from your U.S. degree-granting institution. International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES, AACRAO or NAFSA approved agency.

Step 3: Submit Your Resume

Provide an updated copy of your professional resume or curriculum vitae that includes:

  • Employment history with details of leadership responsibilities, skill sets and results – the committee looks at both quantity and quality of responsibilities
  • School, community and church leadership positions – the committee looks at both quantity and quality of positions
  • Service activities in which you have been involved
  • Academic and non-academic honors and distinctions you have received

Step 4: Submit Your Government-Issued ID

To ensure academic integrity, Regent University requires a copy of a government-issued ID. Please submit a scanned copy or photograph of it to regent.edu/items.
