NEED STUDENT COUNSELING SERVICES?

Discover Regent: Updates and Info From Our Staff & Students

  1. Establish a routine – Try to wake up and go to bed at the same time. Designate a day of the week for chores. Join a weekly study group. By planning a schedule and sticking to it, you’ll create consistency and become more productive.
  2. Protect your time – For the next week, take an inventory of your time. Determine what you’d like to change and make more time for.
  3. Remove distractions – Find a quiet place to study. Take a break from social media, pause your Netflix show, and do what you need to stay focused.
  4. Make a plan – Invest in a planner and write down your work and class schedule. Things don’t look so intimidating on paper.
  5. Take scheduled breaks – Relax for a moment; go for a walk outside, get a snack, spend time with your pet, just get moving so that you can come back to your work feeling refreshed.
  6. Make sure you have a community – In the midst of balancing school and work, schedule a phone call or FaceTime with a friend. Participate on discussion boards or create or join a study group.
  7. Prioritize your health – Getting enough sleep, going for a walk, and choosing healthier snacks and meals go a long way. Your body and mind will thank you for it.
  8. Focus on things that bring you joy and peace – Your spiritual health is worthy of your attention. Take time to journal, attend Unchapel online, and find a small group to connect with. Visit Campus Ministries to learn more.
  9. Take it one day at a time – Walking the balance beam of work-school-life seems like a lot, but it’s manageable when you conquer it one day at a time.
  10. Don’t worry – Instead, communicate. If you are feeling overwhelmed reach out to a classmate or your professor.
