Regent University Launches New Bachelor of Education Degree Programs

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (February 2, 2021) – Regent University is pleased to announce five new cutting-edge Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree programs: Early & Primary Education, Elementary Education, Secondary English, Secondary Mathematics, and Secondary History & Social Science. These in-demand programs will be offered on Regent’s Virginia Beach campus beginning in Fall 2021.

“America is in critical need of eminently qualified teachers who educate and inspire our children with wisdom and knowledge while avoiding ideological pandering and pseudo-academic perspectives,” said Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño, executive vice president for Academic Affairs at Regent University. “The Bachelor of Education majors are tremendous additions to Regent’s degree programs, and the graduates of these programs will make a long-lasting impact on generations to come.”

Regent’s College of Arts & Sciences will direct the B.Ed. programs, providing high-quality pathways to teacher licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Students will receive a broad-based, comprehensive education through coursework in various disciplines including English, mathematics, natural science, history, social science, arts and humanities, and computer technology.

Regent’s Teacher Education & Interdisciplinary Studies department chair Dr. Cheryl Gould noted that graduates of the new B.Ed. degrees will be well-equipped to teach in the Commonwealth of Virginia. “Our faculty stand ready to prepare teachers who will help students achieve their full potential,” she said.

Regent’s education programs earned an “A” rating from the National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ), ranking Regent’s programs in the 95th percentile among all teacher preparation programs in the United States. “These types of rankings distinguish Regent from the competition,” Gould said. “Students can expect the same standard of excellence with these new offerings.”

Regent’s Teacher Education programs are approved by the Virginia Department of Education and accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
