Tidewater Stage turns six years old this summer!
It all began as a dream of the theatre faculty a decade ago: to create a professional summer theatre at Regent University. Since its inception, Tidewater Stage has showcased your favorite MFA actors from our Professional Actor Training Program working alongside stellar faculty, familiar alumni faces and prominent professionals from Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, Seattle and the U.K.
Over the past six years, we’ve produced a little bit of everything from beloved musicals like Pump Boys and Dinettes and Forever Plaid, to classic comedies such as Barefoot in the Park and The 39 Steps to challenging new plays like Freud’s Last Session and The Christians. And this summer, we’re expanding again with our first thriller: Dial M for Murder.
You’ll recognize the title, and perhaps you’ve seen the famous film adaptation by Alfred Hitchcock. But Frederick Knott’s chilling stage play is where it all began, and this one has more twists and turns than your favorite roller coaster. It’s an intellectual thriller that will keep you guessing to the very end. Scott Rollins makes his Tidewater Stage debut as Tony, whose plans to murder his wife go terribly awry, leading him into a very different game of deception and mayhem. Alumni favorites Lynn Kenny Richards (Barefoot in the Park) and John Forkner (Freud’s Last Session, The 39 Steps) round out our trio of talented leads.
Originally, we had announced The Odd Couple (female version) as our second summer show. Unfortunately, due to licensing issues we’ve had to cancel the production. This summer we’ll be a little slimmer with a single production of Dial M for Murder, but we’ve extended the run to three weekends so you have more opportunities to see the show.
It's going to be a summer of thrills and chills at Tidewater Stage. We can’t wait for you to join us!
