The Good Doctor
By Neil Simon and Anton Chekov
Jan. 22-24 & 29-31, 2021
Russian playwright (and medical doctor) Anton Chekov is known for his 19th-century family dramas, but he also wrote some hilarious short stories. Comedy genius Neil Simon has translated these stories into an evening of comedy gold. Through the invention of a frustrated writer serving as narrator, the stories unfold as a series of vignettes – some charming, some touching, but all, uproariously funny.
The Good Doctor is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com.
By Ruth and Augustus Goetz
Feb. 26-28 & Mar. 5-7, 2021
In this classic melodrama set in the New York of the 1850s, shy and plain-looking, “unmarriageable” Catherine lives alone with her wealthy and overprotective father, Dr. Sloper. When she falls desperately in love with a penniless – and mysterious – new suitor, her father suspects a con and threatens her disinheritance should they marry. Eventually, Catherine must decide whether her new love is a schemer or a savior worth risking it all.
The Heiress is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, New York.
