Policy for Weddings on Regent University Campus
Regent University Chapel is available for weddings of all sizes, up to a capacity of 970. For information regarding pricing of the chapel for weddings, please contact our chapel coordinator Ann Smith at The Founders Inn and Spa, 757.366.5814. Wedding ceremonies may be scheduled in the Regent Chapel up to nine (9) months in advance. If a wedding ceremony is requested to be held in the library auditorium, main theatre, or outdoors along with a catered reception, the event will be considered based on the scope of the event. Wedding ceremonies and/or receptions in any part of the campus other than the chapel will be scheduled no more than four (4) months in advance as Regent events are priority and must be scheduled first.
Wedding ceremonies without a sit-down catered meal or heavy hors d'oeuvres reception are only considered for the Regent Chapel and not elsewhere on campus. We strongly encourage bridal parties using the chapel for their wedding ceremony to consider using space at Founders Inn for their reception. All wedding receptions held on the Regent campus must use one of Regent's two exclusive caterers: The Founders Inn and Spa or the Regent Ordinary. Alternatively, Founders Inn can cater the reception in Regent University's library atrium. The Regent Ordinary space may be reserved for a wedding reception, and on occasion, the Ordinary is available to cater to the library atrium.
Other than at The Founders Inn, the only room on campus considered for wedding receptions larger than 125 people is the library atrium. Capacity for a sit-down dinner in the library atrium is 300 people. For receptions smaller than 125 people, you may consider using either the library atrium or the Regent Ordinary's space. Since the library atrium is located adjacent to all parts of the library where our students are studying, we require any events held in that space to keep noise and music at a minimum, with care taken to insure that the event will not interrupt the quiet usage of the library by Regent University students and other patrons. Soft background music is the only level of music allowed.
No Smoking/No Alcohol/No Drugs Policy: Regent University forbids the use of alcohol, illicit drugs, and tobacco on campus and prohibits the abuse of these substances. This includes a champagne toast.
Dancing: As the propriety of certain types of dancing is interpreted differently by individuals, and since the volume of music may be so loud as to interrupt our students in the library, the only dancing permitted in the library atrium is ballroom style.
