Regent’s Certificate of Graduate Studies in Cyber Practitioner Preparation will help you meet the urgent and growing demand for cyber training in the workplace by closing the gap between your cyber knowledge and hands-on skills. This 9-credit hour certificate is offered as either a stand-alone certification or as a degree-expansion. Through the Certificate of Graduate Studies in Cyber Practitioner Preparation program, you will gain an essential understanding of operating systems, key principles of networks, and experience various facets of cybersecurity within Regent’s multimillion-dollar cyber range. Regent is also a member of the United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) Academic Engagement Network. The courses in the program are both asynchronous and online, allowing you to pursue them anytime, anywhere.

This certificate will prepare you for the following:

  • Gain an essential understanding of the architecture of a Linux operating system through practice in hands-on labs.
  • Understand key principles of networks through study of example networks and hands-on labs to develop and test student-created protocols.
  • Acquire experience within Regent University’s cyber range to implement principles, secure against threats, and investigate cybersecurity incidents.
  • Prepare for five industry certifications*:
    • CompTIA Linux+
    • CompTIA Network+
    • CompTIA Security+
    • EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker
    • CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+)

Students completing this program may apply their earned credits to a Master of Science in Cybersecurity. Develop your career by acquiring the skills you need to be an expert in cybersecurity.

Essential understanding of the architecture of a Linux operating system. Includes hands-on labs for installing and maintaining workstations, working at the Linux command line, handling files, and providing system security. Practice includes performing maintenance tasks, user administration, data integrity, and system maintenance.
Key principles of the network physical layer, applications, and security. Real-world example networks and hands-on labs are integrated for the development and testing of student created network protocols.
Hands-on exercises within Regent’s cyber range to implement basic cyber security principles. Labe exercises to reinforce key industry certification topics and live fire hands-on incident response scenarios. Requires some synchronous availability. Prerequisites: ISYS 324 or CYBR 524 or CompTIA Network+ certification or equivalent. Pass/No Pass. Cross-listed with CYBR 381.
Hands-on exercises within Regent’s cyber range to analyze threats, design/defend network environments, and respond/investigate cyber security incidents. Lab exercises include red/blue simulation exercises. Requires some synchronous availability. Prerequisites: ISYS 324 Networks and Telecommunication Concept, CYBR 524 Network Architecture and Protocols, CompTIA Network+ certification, or equivalent. Pass/No Pass. Cross-listed with CYBR 382.
Cyber defense practitioner skills through team collaboration and hands-on exercises within Regent’s cyber range to identify, analyze, defend, and secure against emerging presented threats. Lab exercises include incident response and systems analysis exercises which include debriefs and the construction of comprehensive Incident Response reports. Requires some synchronous availability. Prerequisites: ISYS 324 Networks and Telecommunication Concept, CYBR 524 Network Architecture and Protocols, CompTIA Network+ certification, or equivalent. Pass/No Pass. Cross-listed with CYBR 383.

The Certificate of Graduate Studies offers an excellent opportunity for those not seeking a master’s degree. This option is often used by those needing continuing education credits or for those who wish to complement their existing degree with additional training for career advancement. Upon completing the certificate, students have the option of applying to the master’s program, and if accepted, all courses taken toward the certificate transfer in.

Step 2: Submit Your Transcripts

Submit your unofficial college transcripts to regent.edu/items.

Upon submitting your application, you will receive an email requesting authorization for Regent University to obtain your official transcripts from your U.S. degree-granting institution. International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES-approved company.

Step 3: Submit Your Government-Issued ID

Submit a photo of your government-issued ID to regent.edu/items.
