Your student’s safety is our priority. Regent University Police Department (RUPD) is dedicated to protecting students, faculty and staff. These armed law enforcement officers monitor the campus and possess the same powers under the law as city police officers. RUPD offers:
- Surveillance & Patrols: Campus-wide video surveillance and vehicle and foot patrols are provided — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Emergency Call Boxes: These boxes and telephones are located throughout campus. They immediately connect you to the dispatch center where officers are ready to assist.
- Security Escorts: A security escort will accompany your student to his/her car and dorm, if requested.
- Alerts: Emergency and weather alerts are provided through Regent’s text and email notification system.
- Confidentiality: Regent’s Anonymous Crime Report system ensures confidentiality.
- Free Campus Shield App (App Store | Google Play): This emergency communication tool between the campus community and RUPD is backed by a robust geo-mapping feature. It offers three major features:
- Emergency Calls
- iReports (send text messages directly to Campus Police to alert them of any suspicious activity)
- Friend Watch
Other Features: Campus Shield includes a Safety Escort request, Regent Shuttle Tracker, links to safety awareness tips, emergency procedures and other campus safety resources.

Regent University offers two on-campus housing options for single students: Regent Commons and Regent Village.
Students enjoy community-building activities with their hall mates, facilitated by Resident Assistants (RAs), participate in weekly Life Group meetings, and learn how to live as part of a greater community.
REGENT COMMONS
This option is primarily for undergraduate students aged 17-24. All first-year freshmen taking classes on campus who live outside a 25-mile radius of Regent University’s campus are required to live here.
The Commons offer fully furnished apartment-style living with versatile floor plans, ranging from studio to four-bedroom suites. We provide wireless internet and cable TV service, all utilities included and amenities such as a 24-hour fitness center, courtesy washers and dryers, 24-hour security, and plenty of campus life activities. There is also easy access to nearby malls, restaurants and the spectacular oceanfront of Virginia Beach. In addition, Regent provides a complimentary shuttle service on campus, which includes store runs.
Campus housing is available mid-August to early May. However, due to limited space, students beginning classes in the middle of a semester (Sessions B & D) cannot be guaranteed immediate housing, and may work with the Housing Office for alternative solutions.

Regent Commons offers three different floor plans to residents.
- Triple Occupancy One Bedroom – 600 sq. ft.
- Double Occupancy Studio – 370 sq. ft.
- Suite – 1440 sq. ft.
1) How soon can I apply for housing?
Once your student has been accepted to the university, they are eligible to apply for housing. Please complete the application online and submit the $350 nonrefundable application fee/housing deposit ($150 enrollment deposit + $200 housing deposit). The application and deposit are together in the same online form and can only be submitted/accepted online.
2) What are the qualifications for living in Student Housing?
To be eligible for on-campus housing, a student must be enrolled full-time (enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours) taking at least 9 credit hours on campus (as opposed to online). Students with special circumstances or degree requirements should contact the Student Housing Office if they are not able to register for 9 credit hours on campus. 3) Are utilities included?
Yes. Cable television, wireless Internet, electricity, water, trash and sewage are included in the semester fee.
4) What appliances are included in the apartment?
Each apartment has a refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher and garbage disposal.
5) Do the apartments utilize a security service?
Regent Commons is locked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and accessible by electronic key card. Campus Police and Residence Life Staff perform regular rounds of the buildings to ensure the safety of all students.
6) How far are the Student Housing complexes from the campus?
Regent Commons is located on campus.
7) Are there groceries and shopping nearby?
Several shopping centers near campus are easily accessible by automobile, public transportation and/or walking. In addition, Regent provides a complimentary shuttle service on campus, which includes store runs. Learn more about the shuttle’s schedule and access its application form.
8) How long is the housing agreement? Is there a minimum or maximum time that my student may occupy a space?
The Student Housing Agreement is for an entire academic year (fall and spring semesters – mid/late August to early May) with the exception of seniors graduating in December and new incoming students beginning classes in January. Students who choose to prematurely terminate their Housing Agreement will forfeit their $200 housing deposit and may be responsible for semester housing fees included on their original agreement.
9) Does the university have storage areas available?
The university does not have storage units available. However, several independent storage facilities are located in the immediate area (American Classic: 757.420.7676).
10) Are families with children eligible for Student Housing?
No. Regent Commons is for single undergraduate students between the ages of 17 and 24.
11) How many vehicles are we allowed to park in the complex?
Students are allowed to park one vehicle in the complex.
12) Is there a place for bikes?
Yes. We have bicycle racks at various locations within the Commons.
13) Can I store my boat in the parking lot?
(Yes, we’ve been asked that question.) The parking lot is for motor vehicles only, which includes automobiles, motorcycles and pick-up trucks. You may not park boats, trailers of any kind, mobile homes, campers, buses or trucks larger than three-quarter ton without prior consent of the Student Housing Management Office.
Inoperable vehicles or vehicles with expired registrations are not allowed to be parked on the property. Conducting major vehicle repairs in the parking lot is prohibited. Do not leave cars on jacks unattended.
As a courtesy to our residents in wheelchairs, we ask that you do not park your vehicle in a manner that would result in it protruding over the sidewalk.
14) Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed in student housing assignments or anywhere on the residential area premises. This includes guests staying in a housing assignment. Visitors would need to make other arrangements for their pets before visiting Student Housing. Fresh water aquariums are permitted but limited to 5 gallons in size. Service dogs are permitted for those individuals with registered disabilities.
15) If I am visiting the area, can I tour a model?
The Commons Housing Office is an example of an apartment. In addition, we have floor plans you may view in the above tab labeled “Floor Plans. Due to the demand for student housing, we do not have a model apartment available, but tours may be scheduled through the Welcome Center by calling 757.352.4837.
16) Do the apartments offer internet access?
Yes. Wireless internet access is included in the semester fee.
17) What about cable TV?
Yes. The expanded package is included in the semester fee. Additional services may be purchased from Cox Communications external link by the student.
18) Does the Regent Ordinary offer meal plans?
Since each of the apartments in the Regent Commons and Village have full kitchens, including ovens and microwaves, the Regent Ordinary does not offer meal plans for students. However, reloadable gift cards may be purchased or reloaded with any amount at regent.edu/giftcard.
19) Are new students guaranteed housing?
On-campus housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Apartment units are limited. We suggest submitting your housing application as soon as you are able to. While Housing Office staff do their best to accommodate all incoming students, housing is not guaranteed.
20) How will the Student Housing Office staff communicate with my student?
We prefer to communicate with prospective students by email, but please inform us if another method of communication would be more appropriate for them.
21) When will I find out if my student has been assigned an apartment?
Fall housing assignments are finalized in mid-July, and spring semester assignments are finalized before the university closes for Christmas break. Once your student’s housing assignment has been made, he or she may view it in Genisys (on the MyRegent portal) by going to Main Menu > Student > Housing Menu > Housing Information.
22) Are special accommodations available for individuals with disabilities?
Yes. Students with disabilities should contact the Office of Disability Services at 757.352.4797 or email them at disabilities@regent.edu regarding general disability accommodations as well as medical room requests. Please inform the Student Housing Office if you require any special accommodations as well.
23) Can we bring our own furniture?
Regent Commons is fully furnished, and additional furniture is not permitted.
24) Is there a swimming pool?
We do not have a swimming pool in Student Housing.
25) Does my student have to move out during the summer semester?
Summer semester housing is available to students who are enrolled in summer classes, working on campus, or participating in an academic internship in the Virginia Beach area. Students who do not meet any of these criteria will be required to vacate their housing assignment in early May.
26) Can my student have overnight guests?
Yes. Residents may have guests of the same sex stay with them for no more than three nights in a 30-day period. Guests staying overnight must register with the Student Housing Office or with an RA on duty in the lobby of the residence hall
27) Can student loans pay for student housing charges?
Yes, but this depends upon your student’s financial aid. He or she should discuss this further with their advisor.
28) Where can we pay the semester fee?
You may pay the semester fee on campus at the Business Office (Administration Building, Room 134), or you may pay online with a credit card through Genisys (login to the MyRegent portal and click on Genisys link).

In colonial days, an “ordinary” was an establishment that served good food at reasonable prices. Likewise, Regent Ordinary is a quaint dining establishment providing good food at great prices in a delightful setting.
Gift cards: Reloadable gift cards “Ordinero” can be used for any purchase made through the Ordinary. The cards can be purchased using the online form or at the Regent Ordinary cashier station during business hours (M-F, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.).
Gift cards can be loaded with any amount. There is a nonrefundable $1.50 service fee for the purchase of new cards. Gift card payments are nonrefundable.

As a Division I South Region member institution in the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA), Regent offers opportunities for our student athletes, the Regent Royals, to participate in intercollegiate sports, club sports and intramural sports.
Our intercollegiate athletic programs include track & field, cross country, soccer, volleyball, basketball and cheerleading. Students can also participate in club sports, competing against other colleges and universities on the local and regional levels through independent, student-led organizations. These include flag football, ice hockey, eSports and more. And we foster team spirit and healthy competition through intramural sports as well. Participation is open to all students, staff, and faculty, as well as CBN employees and spouses.
In addition to our growing athletics program, we are excited about future construction of a new Athletic Complex. Equipped with state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor facilities, this will foster an explosion of team spirit, while giving our athletes a venue to glorify God through sports.

STUDENT EVENTS
A range of events add to the excitement of student life at Regent. From the more casual on-campus dances, movies on the lawn, Super Bowl parties and open mic nights to our formal Christmas Ball. Students enjoy annual talent competitions, color runs, and Harvest fests.
Is your student swayed by music? The Virginia Symphony Orchestra regularly performs in our Performing Arts Center and we also host choral concerts and present Broadway musicals, dramas, comedies, classics and more.
In addition, the Regent University Nights of Worship unite the community and campus for worship led by respected artists such as Kim Walker-Smith, Cory Asbury, and Mary Kat and Andrew Ehrenzeller of Jesus Culture. And, for two weekends in December, the campus of transforms into an enchanting Christmas Village that the community and students enjoy.

Regent and the Office of Student Activities & Leadership offer more than 50 chartered student organizations. These are designed to enhance skills and build lifelong friendships, equipping students to grow professionally and spiritually. They range from our Moot Court Board and Undergraduate Debate Association to Visual Storytellers, Photography Club and Swing Dance Club. You can view a complete list of these organizations.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Equipping our students to be Christian leaders to change the world starts right here, on campus. The College Student Leadership Board gives undergraduate students a chance to represent their peers among the student services staff and faculty. Opportunities include mentoring students, overseeing service opportunities with Regent and the community, participating in a leadership program, and supporting college traditions and assemblies.

We offer a shuttle service on certain days of the week to stores such as Aldi, Walmart and Target for students to get groceries and other necessities.

One of the biggest attractions of the area is the beautiful Virginia Beach Oceanfront. From mini-golf to ice cream shops, carnival rides to surfing, the oceanfront is packed with places to eat, play, and soak up some sun, surf, and sand.

HONORS COLLEGE
The Regent University Honors College provides scholarships, exclusives mentorship opportunities, advanced leadership training, and competitive fellow positions to its students. To be accepted, students need to first apply and be accepted to Regent University’s College of Arts & Sciences for an on-campus undergraduate program and then apply separately to The Honors College. At Regent, students, professors and staff come alongside each other to form a spiritual family. A diverse community of people from many denominations, cultures, backgrounds and callings comprise this family, all with an intentional focus on our shared Christ-centered values. Regent provides a number of opportunities for spiritual growth as well as well-being.
CHAPEL
Students, faculty and staff meet in the Shaw Chapel for a time of fellowship, worship and God’s Word at noon every Wednesday. Chapel features transdenominational worship, allowing for many Christian faith traditions to be represented through creed, music and guest speakers. The services can also be viewed live.
UNCHAPEL
Students meet for UnChapel in the Shaw Chapel on Thursday evenings. With modern worship music, relevant teaching, and an opportunity for prayer ministry, this is an exciting experience. Join the experience online.
LIFE GROUPS
Regent’s Life Groups provide a place for students to forge deeper connections with fellow undergraduate students. Led by students, for students, these small groups give them an opportunity to do life together. And, to do it well.
SERVICE OUTREACH
Campus Ministries offers opportunities for students to serve in the community. We have Good Fridays, when students volunteer at nonprofit organizations such as soup kitchens, tutor under-privileged children, or participate in street evangelism. Love Light is our outreach to the homeless, while Regent Serves involves community clean-ups, food drives, partnerships with Operation Blessing, and more. And we organize an annual spring break trip to urban centers throughout the United States, called Urban Plunge Mission Trip. This is the time to shine the light of Jesus Christ in the world, and we encourage our students to do so.
SUCCESS COACHING
Success Coaching is an opportunity for students to “discover out loud” what God has already placed within them. Regent’s certified coaches help them to explore the change God has initiated, identify and overcome challenges, and put a plan into action. We want our students to be everything God created them to be.
COUNSELING
Regent Counseling Services provides free professional counseling to Regent students at the Virginia Beach campus. Services include individual counseling, group counseling, pre-marital/marriage counseling, assessments, and psychoeducational workshops.

Career Services empowers students for the world of work. Services range from the basics of exploring majors and career paths, to connecting with employers for internships and interviews. Our students have access to coaches and premier online career assessments.
INTERNSHIPS
Students may access the online tool called Handshake to apply for internships around the nation. Handshake lists thousands of opportunities, allowing students to filter by area of interest, geographic location, and paid/unpaid, plus other details. Once an internship is secured, we ask students to complete a brief orientation through Regent, in order to receive course credit. More information is available by contacting Career Services.
