Regent University's School of Communication & the Arts recently hosted CNN copy editor John DeDakis, who discussed his journalism career and how that lead him to become a novelist. DeDakis, described as a "writer's writer and editor" by Michael Patrick, dean of the School of Communication & the Arts, previously worked three years for CBN News.
Currently an editor and writer for CNN's "The Situation Room" anchored by Wolf Blitzer, DeDakis addressed writing tips for aspiring journalists: keep writing tight and to-the-point, and understand that a journalist's job is to inform, not persuade.
