VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Aug. 31, 2023) – Regent University School of Law is honored to be recognized among the nation’s best in preLaw Magazine’s Back to School 2023 issue.  National Jurist’s preLaw Magazine evaluates law school programs throughout the United States and is widely read by aspiring attorneys and law students.

Regent Law received the following accolades in the magazine’s most recent “Best of” edition:

  • #9 Best Law School Moot Court Program in the Nation, 2022-2023
  • “A” rating (Top 25) Law School Human Rights Program, 2023

“At Regent Law, we want to educate, inspire, and launch students into positions of service and influence around the world.  It’s wonderful to see the success of our programs recognized in print,” said Brad Lingo, dean of Regent University School of Law.  “I’m particularly pleased to see Regent Law named second best in the country at training students for public service in government.  At Regent Law, we’re training servant leaders who will change the world.”

Public Service in Government

PreLaw Magazine noted that “Regent Law has a number of opportunities for students to learn first-hand how government works,” including its innovative new Prosecution Practicum.  In that practicum, students are taught by local judges and prosecutors while serving in semester-long internships with local prosecutors.

Human Rights

Regent Law and its Center for Global Justice consistently rank among the top 25 programs in the nation for Human Rights Law.  Through the Center, Regent Law students receive grants to pursue human rights internships around the world, including in India, Uganda, Bulgaria, France, and throughout the United States.  Students also work on pro bono legal projects for organizations like the International Justice Mission, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, and Alliance Defending Freedom International.  This year, the Center launched a clinic that will provide free legal services to survivors of human trafficking.

Moot Court

Regent Law has long had one of the best Moot Court programs in the country.   PreLaw recognized Regent as both the 14th best program in the nation over the past three years and the 9th best in 2023.  Regent Law also hosts the Leroy R. Hassell, Sr. National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, which attracts some of the nation’s best law students to compete and receive insights from distinguished judges, attorneys, and professors to improve their skills.
