Regent Introduces Three New Bachelor of Music Programs for Fall 2024

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Feb. 20, 2024) – Regent University is adding three new degrees to its fall 2024 curriculum: a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Voice, a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice, and a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting.

“The human voice is a captivating instrument with the power to unite, heal, and inspire an audience out of struggle and into triumph. Likewise, words have the power to encourage the mind and free the soul,” said Gary Spell, Director of the Institute of Music & Worship at Regent University. “Regent’s new world-class degrees provide musicians with rigorous musical training to help them hone and harness their transformative gifts and prepare to lead with excellence as unto the Lord, both intellectually and artistically.”

Earning a Bachelor of Music will include general education courses as well as study of vocal performance fundamentals, vocal diction, various musical instruments, songwriting, musical arrangement, music business and technologies, and other music performance-related topics.

Additionally, the Bachelor of Music in Songwriting is specifically for those who want to write, produce, and perform their own music. It has classes in arranging, recording, mixing and post-production, marketing, and promotion.

Upon completion of these degree programs, graduates can choose to enter the job market or continue working toward an advanced degree.

Study in Contemporary Voice can lead to successful career paths as a professional vocalist, headliner/musical artist, Broadway performer, professional studio vocalist, vocal coach, and more.

Studying Classical Voice can lead to successful career paths as an opera singer, classical performance artist, professional chorister, professional voice teacher, and more.

Becoming skilled in Songwriting can lead to a career as a topline writer, performing songwriter, producer, composer, lyricist, musical director and more.
