General Parking Policies and Procedures

All Regent University faculty, staff, and students are required to register their vehicles and motorcycles with Parking Services.  After completing the form, parking stickers will be sent via interoffice mail to staff and faculty.  Students can pick up parking stickers at Student Services in SC 201 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm (6 pm on Tuesdays).  The sticker must be placed on the inside of the windshield behind the rear view mirror, out of the line of sight.  Do not place the sticker on your car bumper.  Stickers are not transferable.  Any vehicle not displaying a parking sticker or fully-completed visitor pass is subject to ticketing and/or towing.

There is a parking charge for students, billed each semester to your student account.  The fee is $100 per semester.  The charge is mandatory to every Virginia Beach campus student who owns or drives a motor vehicle on campus (Regent, Founders Inn, Regent Village, Regent Commons, etc.) and who enrolls in three or more credit hours of on-campus courses during the academic year.  Parking fee waiver forms are available in the Business Office and online (http://www.regent.edu/admin/busoff/parkingfee.html) for students who are eligible for waiver consideration.  You will not need to get a new sticker each year.  Your sticker will be valid as long as you are here at Regent.

Faculty, staff, and students must park only in regular parking spaces in the following University lots:  Chapel/Divinity, Classroom Building, Robertson Hall, Library/Administration, and Communication Building.  You may park in the Founder’s Inn lot, or you may park in the CBN Corporate Support Building lot if you need to use that building. CBN Studio Headquarters lot (across from the Student Center) is off-limits to Regent faculty, staff, and students, with the exception of full-time Regent employees of the Student Center and COGS & RUC executive officers, whose vehicles are required to display the appropriate hangtag.  Hangtags can be obtained by completing the Student Center Parking application located at regent.edu/parking, pending availability.

Residential/Student Housing Lots: Regent Village and Regent Commons parking lots are designated as Residential Lots (“R-Lots").  These lots are to be used exclusively by residents and registered guests of the Regent Commons and Regent Village on-campus residential areas.  Current student residents of Regent Village or Regent Commons will be issued a red “R” resident sticker for their vehicle.  Guests of student residents parking in the R-Lots will need to obtain a guest pass from the Regent Village or Regent Commons Student Housing Offices.

Violations: Parking violations are $150 for parking in a disabled spot or safety zone; $100 for parking in a reserved space or in the Student Center lot without the proper hangtag; and $50 for all other offenses.  All fines are to be paid to the cashier in the University Business Office within ten days.  Fines will be placed on student accounts if not paid by the deadline.  Aside from ticketing, your vehicle may also be subject to towing if parked in unauthorized locations such as: reserved (permit parking only) spaces, ACLJ reserved spaces, disabled spaces, visitor spaces, loading zones, fire lanes, no-parking areas, driveways, and non-paved areas.  Vehicles parked in fire lanes or in other areas where safety is affected, especially in the shuttle thoroughfare, will be towed at owner’s expense.

Liability:   Please make every effort to secure your vehicle and belongings while on campus.  Regent University, CBN, and Founder’s Inn are not responsible for theft or damage to vehicles parked on the property.  If you would like to make a report of theft or damage, you can contact Campus Police at 757.226.2075.

Disabled parking:  Disabled parking spaces are subject to ticketing by Virginia Beach police.  Those who require these accessible parking spaces should apply for a disabled placard or plate from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.  For more information visit their website at http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/citizen/disability/plates_assist.asp.  For information on temporary medical parking needs, visit regent.edu/parking and click Temporary Medical Parking.

AMERIGROUP Parking:  Regent vehicles are permitted to park in the first row of the AMERIGROUP parking lot, parallel to Regent University Drive, only.  Vehicles parked past the first row will be towed at the owner’s expense.

University Shuttle: The shuttle (http://www.regent.edu/campuses/vb/shuttle.cfm) provides free transportation around campus to all Regent, Founders Inn, and CBN staff and students.  Check their website at regent.edu/shuttle for current hours and routes.

Reserved Spaces:  There are numbered reserved parking spaces for full-time faculty and staff, as well as additional reserved ACLJ parking spaces, available on campus.  Parking Services maintains a waiting list for reserved spaces.  Parking in a reserved space without the “Reserved Space” hangtag may result in the vehicle being towed.  People with a reserved parking space must also affix a parking sticker to their windshield.

Campus Visitor Parking/Reserved Parking for Special Events:  We have temporary parking permits available for visitors. Applications for Special Guest/Event Parking can be found at regent.edu/parking. If you will be receiving visitors on campus, please request the number you need.  Each visitor to our campus must have a parking permit, and must park only in regular parking spaces.  Guests must be issued a temporary parking pass for each car that is on campus.  It is extremely important that a representative from the department or school completes the pass before issuing.  For an event requiring a large number of visitors on campus, please use the Special Guest/Event Parking Application at regent.edu/parking. You may contact Parking Services at 352-4103 or parking@regent.edu to discuss special signs, additional manpower for directing traffic, etc.  Any large groups should be directed to park in the Communication parking lot.  It is not necessary to issue temporary parking passes for visitors parked in the Communication parking lot.

Overnight/Extended Parking:  No vehicles may be left in Regent/CBN/Founders Inn parking lots overnight unless pre-authorized.  Any vehicle not authorized for overnight parking will be subject to ticketing and/or towing at the owner’s expense.  Vehicles left on campus overnight must be officially registered with Parking Services and display a current Regent parking sticker, as well as an Overnight/Extended Parking Permit.  Applications for Overnight/Extended Parking may be found at regent.edu/parking.  Do not park your car for an extended period of time in the Founders Inn lot if you are not a guest in the hotel.
