GRE Fee Waivers

Educational Testing Service (ETS), which administers the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), makes available to colleges and universities yearly, a limited supply of fee waivers for the GRE, based on financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Waivers may be used to pay for a general test and/or one subject test. Students desiring to receive a fee wavier should contact Central Financial Aid at 757.352.4125 or finaid@regent.edu for more information.

General eligibility requirements:

  • You must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien as well as a college senior receiving financial aid or non-enrolled college graduate who has applied for financial aid.
  • If you are a dependent college senior, your FAFSA must not show a parental contribution of more than $1,400 for your senior year.
  • If you are an independent college senior whose FAFSA shows a contribution less than $1,800 for your senior year, you are also eligible.
  • An independent non-enrolled college graduate whose FAFSA shows a contribution of less than $1,800 is also eligible.

To apply for the GRE fee waiver, contact Central Financial Aid. Your counselor will determine if you qualify for the waiver. Once your eligibility is established, your counselor will issue you a fee waiver and a copy of your FASFA. You must register for the GRE by mail or the internet.

If you are registering for more than one test, all registration materials must be received together with the fee waiver and FAFSA or your registration form will be returned to you unprocessed.

Letter requests, photocopies and faxes of fee waivers will not be accepted.

Fee waivers are not retroactive and they cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.
