Report Suspected Identity Fraud

If you believe your personal information has been used without your permission to apply for admission, financial aid, or enrollment at Regent University, please complete this form. Our fraud review team will examine the details you provide, determine whether a record exists in your name, and flag any account identified as potentially fraudulent for further investigations.

Acting quickly limits the damage identity theft can cause, so we recommend starting these steps as soon as possible.

Complete the steps below:

  1. Contact your loan servicer: If you believe fraudulent student loans were taken out in your name, contact your loan servicer directly to start an identity theft claim with them. If you’re not sure who your loan servicer is, you can look it up at studentaid.gov
  2. File a police report: Contact your local police department to file a report. Please email us a copy of the police report to faforms@regent.edu.
  3. Report the theft to the Federal Trade Commission
    1. Visit IdentityTheft.gov to report the identity theft and get a personalized recovery plan. This generates an official FTC Identity Theft Report, which you may need later when disputing fraudulent accounts.
    2. You can also call the FTC at 877.438.4338.
    3. The FTC’s step-by-step checklist walks through what to do based on your specific situation; we recommend reviewing it.
  4. Contact the major credit bureaus and place a credit freeze: A credit freeze helps prevent new accounts from being opened in your name without your permission.
