Regent University Student Life Establishes Campus Food Pantry

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (June 5, 2026) — Regent University is pleased to announce the establishment of its Student Food Pantry, a free resource designed to help eliminate food insecurity and support the health of students within the campus community.

Made possible by a grant from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) through its Hunger-Free Campus Grant Program, the pantry reflects Regent’s ongoing commitment to the holistic well-being of its students. The awarded funds were utilized by the Student Life department to purchase shelving, signage, and refrigeration, fully equipping the pantry for operation during the Spring 2026 semester.

“We don’t know what financial resources our students have available to them, and if we can provide food necessities to make their time at Regent a little easier, that is what we hope for,” said Amber Steele, Assistant Vice President for Student Life. “We have already been able to bless many students through the food pantry, and as we grow, it will continue to be important that we have this resource available. We want to make sure that no student at Regent goes hungry.”

The Regent University Food Pantry stocks a wide variety of healthy, sustainable food items, including cereal, pasta, canned meats and vegetables, fresh produce, and pantry staples such as cooking oil, spices, and sauces, as well as personal care and hygiene items. The pantry has been enthusiastically received by students since its launch, with the community expressing heartfelt appreciation.

The Regent University Food Pantry is located in the Dede Robertson Student Center, Room 235, open on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the academic year. Future goals include expanded space and hours, as well as increased fresh food options.

Donations to support the initiative may be made via Regent’s website (select “Student Services”) or the Food Pantry’s Amazon Wish List. To inquire about accessing the food pantry’s resources, contact Amber Steele at asteele@regent.edu or call 757-352-4489.
