U.S. News & World Report Ranks Regent a Top National University for Fourth Year

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Sept. 12, 2022) – Regent University has once again been named a “Top Tier” institution by U.S. News and World Report on its 2022-2023 Best Colleges Rankings.

U.S. News assessed an all-time high of 1,500 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions before placing Regent in the top 20% of those measured. Colleges ranked #1 – #317 were considered Top National Universities, and Regent was included in this group, among universities like Princeton, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, and Yale. Regent received a similar recognition from U.S. News for 2019, 2020, 2022, and now, 2023.

“Receiving this national recognition for the fourth time affirms Regent’s unwavering commitment to cultivating academic and spiritual excellence,” said Dr. William L. Hathaway, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Regent. “We will continue to provide our students with curriculum that fosters growth and development to enable our graduates to succeed.”

U.S. News also ranked Regent University in three other categories:

Best Undergraduate Computer Science Programs (Tier 308-537)
This ranking was determined by a peer assessment of deans and faculty members of computer science departments throughout the United States who rated the academic quality of peer institutions’ computer science programs. 

Top Performers on Social Mobility Among National Universities (#56)
The social mobility ranking measures the extent to which schools enroll and graduate students who receive federal Pell grants. Regent’s ranking increased significantly from 100 last year to 56 this year. 

Top Performers on Campus Ethnic Diversity Among National Universities
U.S. News recognized Regent as a college where students are likely to encounter undergraduates from different racial or ethnic groups. U.S. News formulated a diversity index identifying the proportion of minority students enrolled at an institution. 

The Best Colleges rankings evaluate colleges and universities on a total of 17 measures of academic quality—including student retention, student graduation rates, class sizes, faculty resources, student-to-faculty ratio, and more.
