The Countdown is On for the Grand Opening of 77 Coffeehouse at Regent University
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Oct. 23, 2023) – A new coffee shop is coming soon to the Regent University campus called 77 Coffeehouse. Renovations are now underway in the Dede Robertson Student Center to transform Cafe Moka into 77 Coffeehouse before the start of the spring semester.
In addition to serving premium quality coffee, espresso, tea, smoothies, seasonal drinks, pastries, and snacks, 77 Coffeehouse will provide an inviting backdrop for a coffee culture of discussion, collaboration, laughter, and connection. At 77 Coffeehouse, you can expect to find a freshly brewed cup of community.
“We expect 77 Coffeehouse to quickly become a university staple,” said Dr. Joseph Umidi, Executive Vice President of Student Life at Regent. “It is our desire to provide an engaging atmosphere where Regent community members can create lasting memories that make the campus feel like home.”
While the finishing touches are underway at the coffee shop, Regent University will have a local coffee truck, The Coffee Shoppe, in the Student Center parking lot near the Dede Robertson Patio every Friday (except for Thanksgiving break) from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. until December 1st.
77 Coffeehouse derives its name from several notable highlights in Regent University history, including:
- Regent University was established as CBN University in 1977.
- The inaugural class consisted of 77 students.
- Seven faculty members taught at the university during the first year.
A scripture often quoted by Regent University Founder, Chancellor & CEO, the late Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson, will be featured prominently at 77 Coffeehouse to honor his legacy and carry on his vision:
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.” – Zechariah 4:10
