Regent Ranked Among Top National Universities in U.S. News & World Report

For the first time in its 40-year history, Regent University is ranked among the top universities nationally in U.S. News & World Report’s 2019 Best National Universities rankings.

U.S. News & World Report released its annual best colleges rankings for 2019 on Monday, September 10. Each year, U.S. News & World Report determines the list by evaluating universities in up to 16 areas related to academic excellence. Topics for consideration include student-faculty ratio, percentage of faculty with terminal degrees, financial resources, student excellence and peer assessment.

Regent is ranked 201 out of 312 universities nationwide, and among top Virginia universities such as the University of Virginia, William & Mary, Virginia Tech, George Mason University, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Regent is ranked ahead of Old Dominion University and Shenandoah University.

National universities recognized by U.S. News & World Report are regionally accredited universities with a full range of four-year undergraduate programs along with programs at the master’s and doctoral level.

Regent’s recent recognition in the U.S. News & World Report best colleges report comes at the cusp of several new initiatives for the university, including the launch of the College of Healthcare Sciences and School of Nursing (August, 2018), as well as Regent’s recent designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security.
