Regent Law Graduate Program Earns Distinguished AFCPE Designation

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Jan. 22, 2024) – Regent University School of Law’s Master of Arts in Financial Planning and Law (MAFPL) is now an AFCPE Registered Education Program – a distinction attained by only 15 graduate programs in the country.

AFCPE, which stands for the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education, is a network of certified professional financial planners who provide the highest level of knowledge, skill, and integrity within the profession by certifying, connecting, and supporting professionals who positively impact the financial security of communities worldwide.

“We are incredibly pleased with this highly recognized and respected designation,” said Brad Lingo, Dean of Regent University School of Law. “The coursework and instruction in our MAFPL program are both comprehensive and innovative. Our graduates enter the market prepared to ready government agencies, non-profit organizations, as well as individuals for a future of financial wellness.”

Paul Allen, Regent’s Director of MAFPL, has volunteered to serve on the AFCPE Student Task Force, whose primary missions are to elevate student engagement in AFCPE and to award scholarship money to select students. Students that meet the AFC® educational requirements for coursework through the MAFPL program will be eligible to receive 50% off while sitting for the AFC® exam. Regent MAFPL students will also have the opportunity to participate in the AFCPE Knowledge Bowl.

Because military bases and government locations hire AFC® Financial Counselors to provide counseling to military personnel, the opportunity to become an AFC® Counselor will be especially advantageous to local students.

Additionally, this partnership will provide another career avenue for MAFPL students that are not interested in sitting for the CFP exam, but still want to serve their community by helping clients build a sustainable foundation for long-term financial well-being.
