Regent University is exercising measures to protect its students, faculty and staff in light of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the declaration of a national emergency.

Important Guidance for Spring Break Travel

Dear Student,

Regent University continues to closely monitor the global outbreak of COVID-19, more commonly referred to as “coronavirus.” With the University going on spring break next week, March 9-13, many students may have plans to travel, whether it be within the United States or abroad. If you are considering international travel during spring break or to locations within the United States that have confirmed cases of COVID-19, we urge you to review and follow travel guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The CDC’s FAQ for travelers can be found here:

Before you consider traveling, take the time to think critically about your plans and if you should still make the trip to your planned destination. At this time, multiple states within the United States have confirmed cases of COVID-19. The CDC is providing regular updates about states with confirmed cases of COVID-19, which can be found here: Internationally, multiple countries have confirmed cases of COVID-19. The United States has prohibited air travel to many foreign countries. Additionally, some foreign countries have instituted travel restrictions making entry to or exit from said countries very difficult or extremely delayed. The CDC has provided an up-to-date resource listing impacted countries which can be found here:

If you ultimately decide to travel to or through an impacted foreign country or impacted city in the US, you will not be permitted to return to campus housing and/or on-campus classes until you adhere to the following:

1. Complete a self-isolation period (at least 14 days) away from campus, and

2. Complete a follow-up telephone medical screening call through the University’s Health Center. Please call the Health Center during business hours, 9 am- 5 pm (Monday-Friday), at 757.352.4953 to schedule and complete a telephone medical screening.

The University will work earnestly to accommodate impacted students who may need to delay their return to the University because of travel in or through impacted areas. Students should proactively contact their instructors and academic advisors if participation in or completion of academic coursework will be impacted due to a delayed return to campus.

We desire for all students to make wise decisions during spring break regarding not only for their safety and well-being but also for the safety and well-being of the greater University community.

Regent will continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 and will proactively update the Regent community. If you have recently traveled internationally or been exposed to someone with confirmed COVID-19, please seek medical evaluation and communicate any coronavirus diagnosis to university officials.
