Bio

Sheldon P. Hudson, a proud Delmarva/Sussex County, Delaware native, resident, and former Millsboro’s town manager, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Regent University.

Hudson earned a master’s in government from Regent and a bachelor’s in political science from Indiana Wesleyan University. He’s also obtained doctoral credits in organizational leadership from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and has a Delaware Planning Education Certificate.

Hudson is a strong proponent of local control (10th amendment). He’s a passionate and unapologetic promoter of municipal growth and economic development and an action-oriented reformer. He worked in this role from 2016 to 2022 before serving as the assistant town manager.

Hudson has also worked for Queen Anne’s County in Maryland and state levels of government in Delaware. In addition to having taught economics and history at Delaware Tech and Wor-Wic, he teaches at the graduate level, serving as an adjunct professor of public administration at Regent.

Hudson has had private-sector experience as well, serving as the director of risk management for Trinity Logistics in Seaford, Delaware. Additionally, he has professional-level human resources, policy, and budgeting experience.

Hudson is an International City/County Management Association credentialed manager (ICMA-CM) candidate (of the cities in Delaware, only 7% are managed by an ICMA-CM or ICMA-CM candidate). He is a graduate of the University of Virginia Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service’s by-invitation-only Senior Executive Institute; ICMA’s by-invitation-only Leadership ICMA program; and the University of Delaware Institute for Public Administration’s Academy for Excellence in Local Government Leadership.

Hudson serves on Regent’s Master of Public Administration Advisory Board. He is a member of the board of The River–A Wesleyan Church and was a member of the board of Lighthouse Christian School. Along with serving as a speaker and a panelist, he’s involved with the Sussex Economic Development Action Committee, Delaware Decision Makers group, Sussex County Association of Towns, and Delaware League of Local Governments—among others.

Hudson’s wife, Kristan, is a native of Canada. She and Sheldon have two children—Zachary and Eliana—and an adorable miniature schnauzer named Beamer. His other interests include striving to live out his philosophy and faith authentically, spending time with his family and friends, advocating for the pro-life cause, writing, dining out, traveling, camping, and biking.
