NCCAA Eligibility Requirements

In the NCCAA, a student-athlete can compete in four "seasons of competition" within the first ten semesters of college. A season of competition is when an athlete participates in one or more intercollegiate contests, whether at the varsity, junior varsity, or freshman level. Student-athlete must be enrolled in at least 12 hours every semester and be making standard progress toward a baccalaureate degree to play in any competition. They must meet freshman and/or continuing eligibility rules.

  • Achieve a minimum overall high school grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be in the top half of your graduating high school class.
    • If a student's class rank does not appear on the transcript, a signed letter from the principal or headmaster, written on the school's letterhead and with the school's official seal, stating the student's final class rank position or percent may be submitted.

Continued Eligibility

Must have accumulated a minimum of 24 credit hours during the last two semesters of full-time enrollment to be eligible. Once a student-athlete has hit junior status, they are required to have a 2.0 GPA or above.

The Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act requires co-educational institutions of postsecondary education that participate in a Title IV, federal student financial assistance program, and have an intercollegiate athletic program, to prepare an annual report to the Department of Education on athletic participation, staffing, and revenues and expenses, by men's and women's teams. The EADA reports the institution's commitment to providing equitable athletic opportunities for its men and women students. The department will use this information in preparing its required report to the congress on gender equity in intercollegiate athletics. All institutions of higher education that participate in the federal student aid program(s) must complete their annual EADA report by October 15.
