A Human Resources Guide for People Who Swore They’d Never Need It

A Human Resources Guide for People Who Swore They’d Never Need It

Ashley Sloka | 2025

Abstract

Human Resources is often perceived as a rigid, compliance-driven function designed for large corporations with extensive legal and financial resources. This perception leaves small businesses, nonprofits, startups, and solo HR practitioners underprepared and underserved, despite facing equally complex people-management challenges. This manuscript reframes Human Resources as a strategic, people-centered discipline that is both accessible and actionable for non-traditional organizational contexts.

This project explores Human Resources as an engine for advocacy, ethical leadership, and organizational sustainability rather than a mere administrative necessity. Emphasizing the realities faced by lean teams and resource-constrained organizations, the work balances legal compliance with human dignity, employee rights, and inclusive workplace practices. Core HR functions—including hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and termination—are examined through a values-driven lens that prioritizes fairness, transparency, and well-being alongside business objectives.

The manuscript provides practical tools, frameworks, and templates designed for immediate application, empowering readers to function as effective “HR mini powerhouses” within their organizations. Grounded in current research, real-world practice, and ethical considerations, this guide equips leaders and practitioners to navigate HR responsibilities with confidence, moral courage, and strategic clarity. Ultimately, this project positions Human Resources as a force for positive organizational change, capable of fostering healthy cultures, protecting employees, and supporting sustainable growth in today’s evolving workplace.

Leadership Development from Four Sacred Perspectives

Leadership Development from Four Sacred Perspectives

Joseph L. Mbange | 2025

Abstract

The Four Sacred Persepctives curriculum on leadership development is premissed on Jesus’great commandment challenge: to the lawyer “..love the LORD your God with all..” Matthew 22:37 – God’s Leading; to the rich young ruler that, “love your neighbour … — Team Leadership; …..as you love yourself – Personal Leadership” Matthew 19:19, and to the disciples “… pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” Luke 10:2c – Organizational Leadership. Leadership development is multifaceted combination that calls for total dedication, resilience, and focus on it as complex process and not event. This is so because building leaders is challenging given that human beings are complex and live in a VUCA world. Thus, the goal of developing leaders in an organization is to raise and invest in resilient emerging leaders who will create a sustainable pool of healthy, authentic and biblically sound leaders to transform nations. The effective design of leadership development that is transformational is through the elements of spiritual, relational, practical and enlightening.

The curriculum is designed to capacity leadership coaches, mentors, professional consultants in leadership, pastors and organization leaders to develop authentic leaders and especially in the African context. The curriculum elaborates on the four sacred pespectives as in: God’s Leading is that leadership development begins with the perspective of God’s calling of a person to Himself. God’s call of an individual leader to development (Disciplership). This perspective aims to discuss the following subtopics: God’s Call, Silent Time with Jesus (STWJ), and Brokeness in Christ (BIC). Personal leadership is the second perspective of leadership development which is leading self. This calls intentional investment in developing self. It is with this understanding that it is believed that everyone is a leader and what differs is the level of leadership. The understanding that everyone is leader is rooted in the belief that all people lead themselves daily through decisions they make, thinking about so many things, and influence themselves. Self–Awareness, Character, Growth in Trust, Self Capacity, and Life Standards are the main focus topics. Team leadership is another perspective on leadership development with focus on leading a Team, in this section of the curriculum will move from leading self to leading a team. It is looked at from loving you neighbour and also from other reliable men as per Jesus and Paul’s challenge. The context of a neighbor that means developing another person or persons that is a team based on 2 Timothy 2:2. The seven subtopics covered in this section are: recruitment & training, coaching, authentic relationships, team nurturing, delegation, conflict management and assessing people. Organizational leadership portion focuses on leading an organization it being the fourth perspective of leadership development. The informing thought is that laborers in the harvest field is reference to organization based on Luke 10:2. To this end, this perspective is a call or challenge to a broader leaders development. On this premise, this session informs that some are called and equipped to develop leaders on an organizational scale and broadly.

This curriculum will challenge, highlight key learnings, objectives, call to action and ignite the precise context of unique understanding of leadership development as a process and not an event. The call is that to develop healthy leaders, all the four perspectives of transformetional leader development must be strongly be pursued and none should be ignored, all should be given an equal priority. The true challenge of Christian leadership development is these four perspectives that calls for strategic leadership to design and cultivate transformational cultures of leader development. It is a very important call to action for mature leadership, as leaders build leaders!

Navigating Your Leadership Influence: Improving Organizational Effectiveness

Navigating Your Leadership Influence: Improving Organizational Effectiveness

Tara Lalonde | 2025

Abstract

Leadership development offers a strategic opportunity for organizations to obtain a competitive advantage. This hybrid leadership development curriculum design blends traditional course instruction grounded in extensive research with one-on-one leadership coaching over the course of eight layered sessions. Each week builds upon the previous topics to create a framework for rising leaders to improve their influence through elevated self-awareness and a comprehensive understanding of dynamic organizational factors. This course incorporates key tenants of adult learning theory by integrating the learner’s experiences with individualized coaching and topic sequencing that allows for immediate implementation.

This curriculum guides the learner through the multiple ways that leaders influence organizational outcomes; specifically, it explores leadership influence through the lenses of leadership style and characteristics, values, culture, systems thinking, organizational learning, intergroup relationships, psychological safety and belonging, and communication, trust, and credibility, while providing opportunities for application and reflection of learned concepts in between each session. Upon completion, learners are able to: 1) identify effective leadership qualities, 2) understand personal leadership values and vision, 3) assess situations and apply appropriate leadership behaviors, 4) understand how to use feedback as a tool for learning, 5) relate leadership to organizational performance, 6) take on leadership roles with a sense of excitement, 7) recognize one’s impact as a leader on the motivation and commitment of others, and 8) identify a strategy for continued leadership development.

Through this iterative framework and blended coaching-curriculum approach, participants gain improved capabilities to influence greater organizational effectiveness. This unique design offers a strategic leadership development capability for emerging and mid-level leaders, which can fill a vital succession planning gap, and subsequently, create a competitive advantage for organizations.

Walk in a Manner Worthy of the Calling: Preventing the Pitfalls of Ministry Leaders

Walk in a Manner Worthy of the Calling: Preventing the Pitfalls of Ministry Leaders

Jamie D. Keith | 2025

Abstract

Ministry leaders are leaving their roles at an alarming and increasing rate, raising urgent questions about the challenges that compel called and capable individuals to step away from their God-given mission. Walk in a Manner Worthy of the Calling: Preventing the Pitfalls of Ministry Leaders offers a practical, enduring resource designed to help Christian leaders remain grounded in the unique calling God has placed on their lives.

This manuscript examines the often unseen pitfalls that hinder leaders from walking in the fullness of their purpose, addressing topics such as self-deception, navigating correction, the power of presence, recovery from spiritual abuse, guidance through scandal, remaining teachable, identifying potential in others, and combating destructive self-talk. Each chapter integrates scriptural insight, real-life narratives, reflection questions, and actionable steps that guide readers toward deeper self-awareness, spiritual recalibration, and renewed resilience.

Written for pastors, ministry leaders, and Christian influencers seeking integrity, wholeness, and spiritual health, this work aims to strengthen and sustain those who shepherd others. Ultimately, this manuscript encourages leaders to persevere through the inherent challenges of ministry and to walk faithfully and steadfastly in a manner worthy of the call. In doing so, this work invites every reader not only to guard their own calling but to champion the well-being, perseverance, and spiritual vitality of ministry leaders within their communities. Together, we can cultivate a culture where ministry leaders are strengthened, supported, and empowered to remain steadfast in the work God has entrusted to them.

The Foresight Advantage: Leading Change and Elevating Quality

The Foresight Advantage: Leading Change and Elevating Quality

Dennis Johansen | 2025

Abstract

This introduces readers to fundamental leadership practices in change management, quality management, and strategic foresight. Strategic foresight has untapped potential in the field of leadership, extending well beyond futures studies and long-term strategic planning. The benefits of foresight, when combined with change, quality management, and a solid foundation in basic project management, will propel individuals to the next level of their leadership development.

Integrating foresight into change and quality practices helps decision-makers reduce deviations from planned change, remain committed to quality excellence, and make both near- and long-term decisions effectively. Any application of management decisions results in some form of change. Leaders who can manage their organizations through that change while maintaining high-quality and keeping their organization’s strategic plans moving forward will ensure lasting success for both themselves and the organization’s goals.

Readers can expect a demonstration on how to integrate foresight into their organization. The manuscript introduces a new concept, I2F (Insight-to-Foresight). This mindset builds on the existing foresight or systems-thinking mindset and teaches readers how to apply foresight practices to short- and near-term decisions by continuously reintroducing information into their decision-making processes.

Neuroscience and Leadership: Leadership for Authentic Intelligence (Lai)

Neuroscience and Leadership: Leadership for Authentic Intelligence (Lai)

Caroline Joel-Munenge | 2025

Abstract

This thesis focuses on theory development by examining and discussing psychological theories to create a theoretical framework that integrates the factors that influence our thinking, personalities, and how they relate to the SCARF model (Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, Fairness) and self-leadership, and to assess whether they are valid, when they are applicable, and to what extent. Do expectations influence reality? What mental maps do self-led individuals embrace? Drawing on research, this work aims to explore the causal inferences underlying an individual leader’s neuro-systems and address the neurodivergences that challenge leadership. Neuroscience, Spirituality, Self-Leadership, and their intersections are discussed in detail herein. Neuroscience explains the concepts of how we feel, act, or think, thereby providing insights into the malleability of the brain (neuroplasticity). The Spiritual perspective broadens the ‘why’ of existence, focusing on the sense of purpose and the values that activate the brain regions towards achieving a common good. Self-Leadership explores the practical application of meaning derived from a spiritual perspective, designed through mechanisms constructed from the neuroscience viewpoint.

From Consumption to Consequence: Unveiling Leadership Failures in Medical Nutrition Education

From Consumption to Consequence: Unveiling Leadership Failures in Medical Nutrition Education

Honeyfield Fellyx | 2025

Abstract

Despite mounting scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of plant-based diets in preventing and reversing chronic diseases, most medical schools in the United States continue to offer minimal, if any, formal training in nutrition—let alone plant-based nutrition. This omission is not benign; it is a critical oversight that contributes to the ongoing public health crisis marked by rising rates of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and other preventable illnesses. This doctoral project investigates the systemic, economic, and cultural reasons behind the deliberate neglect of plant-based nutrition in medical education, framing it not as a gap in knowledge but as a strategic failure in healthcare leadership. Drawing from policy analysis, institutional review, and scholarly research, this study reveals how the intersection of industry influence, institutional inertia, and medical tradition has shaped curricula to favor pharmaceutical solutions over nutritional prevention. The findings of this study advocate for urgent curricular reform and strategic leadership that embraces nutrition as a central pillar of medical competence. This work calls for a paradigm shift that empowers future physicians to lead with evidence, ethics, and a commitment to sustainable health by repositioning plant-based nutrition as a foundational science rather than an elective topic. The implications extend beyond academia, challenging healthcare institutions, policymakers, and educators to reimagine medical training as a proactive force for population health.

EQ Ninjas: A Renewed Approach to Emotional Intelligence Growth

EQ Ninjas: A Renewed Approach to Emotional Intelligence Growth

Jonathan Cummings | 2025

Abstract

Emotional intelligence research includes three main models: ability, trait, and mixed. Even so, the field still faces major barriers to effective training. Concepts are often fragmented. Measures are inconsistent and frequently overlap with personality traits. Many tools are culturally narrow. Training programs are commonly brief, overly cognitive, and not designed for children. This doctoral project addresses these issues through a synthesis of literature and key meta-analytic findings. The review supports the conclusion that emotional intelligence is measurable, learnable, and improvable through structured training over time, especially when grounded in active learning.

Based on these findings, the project introduces EQ Ninjas, a gamified, story-driven curriculum and app built on the EQ Ninjas Growth Belt System. The system provides a clear, stepwise pathway for developing emotional intelligence. It uses developmentally scaffolded micro-skills and repeated practice to strengthen retention and transfer. Five progressive belts organize learning around core competencies: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, social awareness, and social regulation. The curriculum is designed to be culturally adaptable and easy to implement across contexts. A central feature is the “Path of Emotions” (Event–Thought–Feeling–Behavior), which gives learners a simple map for understanding emotional experiences and choosing constructive responses.

This project integrates theory, empirical research, program design, and early market strategy. It presents a practical and scalable solution for emotional intelligence development. While the current implementation focuses on children, the Growth Belt System is intentionally structured for future versions across additional age groups and settings. EQ Ninjas contributes to the field by unifying emotional intelligence theory into a teachable developmental model and delivering lasting skill growth through enjoyable, repeatable training.

Graceful and Assertive: Women Executives Owning the Seat at the Table

Graceful and Assertive: Women Executives Owning the Seat at the Table

Samantha Calmese | 2025

Abstract

The dynamic interplay of strength, compassion, and divine wisdom characterizes authentic leadership for women. This manuscript examines how grace, mercy, and assertiveness can coexist as sacred leadership traits, enabling women to navigate adversity, redefine authority, and establish enduring legacies. It challenges cultural perceptions that equate mercy with weakness and assertiveness with aggression, instead advancing a model of leadership rooted in faith, resilience, and stewardship. Drawing upon biblical foundations, including the courage of Deborah and the wisdom articulated in Proverbs 11:14 and Isaiah 40:31, alongside the lived experiences of contemporary executive women, leadership is framed not merely as a professional pursuit but as a divine calling.

The text emphasizes that authentic leadership is defined less by outcomes than by the ethical and relational processes through which those outcomes are achieved. Empathy, mercy, and ethical conviction are advanced as essential competencies for navigating the tension between firmness and gentleness, authority and humility. Graceful and Assertive: Women Executives Owning the Seat at the Table offers a transformative framework that integrates theological principles with practical application. Beyond theoretical reflection, it provides actionable strategies, reflective questions, and mentoring applications that translate spiritual insight into lived leadership practices.

Intended for personal study, collaborative learning environments, and mentoring circles, the manuscript positions leadership as both stewardship and worship. Ultimately, it seeks to empower executive women to extend their influence through mentorship, embody practices anchored in faith and ethical conviction, and cultivate legacies defined by strength, gentleness, and eternal purpose.

Maximizing Potential: A Comprehensive Guide to Performance Management Systems

Maximizing Potential: A Comprehensive Guide to Performance Management Systems

Nyasha Bodden | 2025

Abstract

Some leaders do not implement strategies that can help their organizations with quality and performance. This book will push leaders to use strategies to better their organizations in the area of quality and performance. The purpose of this book is to teach leaders different strategies such as EFQM that can be used to help their organizations with quality and performance. Many resources were used. Regent university is where I studied for the past three years as a student in business school learning the “ins and outs” of the subject. This subject is relevant to my degree because it focuses on improving leadership and organizations. My analysis proved that there were many methods that leaders can apply to fix the performance as well as quality in their organizations. Many of the methods are easy to apply some methods require tools to make the process easier and fix the issue while some just require the leader to engage more with their team to fix the problem. My conclusion is that this book has at least one method that is applicable to a problem in an organization providing a solution to an organizational problem. My recommendation is that leaders read through this book and find at least one method that can help solve their organization’s problem.
