Regent University Continues Executive Leadership Series with Artificial Intelligence Presentation by Jason Baker, Ph.D.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 25, 2026) — On February 24, Regent University hosted the second event in its 2025-2026 Executive Leadership Series (ELS), one of the most highly esteemed business leadership events in Hampton Roads, featuring a dynamic presentation on artificial intelligence. “Riding the AI Wave: Turning Disruption Into Distinction” was an informational, inspiring, and empowering charge for organizations to harness AI’s disruptive force for competitive distinction.
ELS attendees heard from Jason Baker, Ph.D., Director of Regent University’s Institute for Technology Innovation, whose work has encompassed engineering, education, and technology. Dr. Baker spoke of the revolutionary properties of artificial intelligence, guiding business leaders on how to learn to adapt to the growing world of AI and use it to set their organizations up for success.
In his remarks, Dr. Baker shared the following insights:
- Throughout history, transformational technologies take something scarce and make it abundant.
- When something becomes abundant, value doesn’t disappear. It migrates.
- The question isn’t whether AI will transform your industry, it’s whether you’ll be the one leading the transformation.
- Understanding where value is moving is the most important strategic question of the AI era.
- Inaction comes at a cost — failed innovation is less costly than failure to innovate.
- Leaders who block rather than build will find themselves edited out of the scene entirely.
“Artificial intelligence is shifting the world so quickly that most of us are failing to register how much has already changed,” Dr. Baker said. “Every decision we make about AI — how we invest, how we govern it, how we use it personally — shapes the future we will inhabit. The need for leaders who combine strategic insight with wisdom has never been greater, and Hampton Roads is fortunate to have ELS attendees who showed up ready to build.”
