Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)
Regent University, a military-friendly Christian university, is proud to join forces with the Army ROTC and Navy ROTC at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. With this joint agreement, students can take courses toward a Regent University degree while fulfilling their ROTC commitment with ODU. We also offer a Navy ROTC Preparatory Program. Students can take courses toward a Regent University degree while fulfilling their Army ROTC commitment at ODU. Students desiring to attend Regent on an Army scholarship should first apply to Regent for admission, then to Army ROTC at ODU for the undergraduate or graduate scholarship.

- Interview with ODU Army ROTC leadership. (Contact information will be given after initial interview)
- Complete Virginia Tidewater Consortium Agreement with Regent University’s Registrar’s Office.
- Enjoy these financial aid benefits:
- Regent’s College of Arts & Sciences will provide Army ROTC Cadets the same tuition discount as offered to active duty service members (e.g., $250 per credit hour).
- Regent’s graduate schools will provide Army ROTC Cadets the same tuition discount offered to active-duty service members (e.g., 25%).
- Financial aid benefits must be applied for by visiting the Military & Veteran Discounts tab.
For students who want to serve their country as a Navy or Marine Corps officer, this joint agreement enables you to take courses (including Naval Science courses) toward your Regent undergraduate degree while fulfilling your Navy ROTC commitment with ODU.

Apply Now - Apply for Navy ROTC Four-Year National Scholarship Program by April 1 of your junior year of high school but not later than December 31 of the year in which you will enter your senior year of high school in the fall.
General eligibility requirements:- U.S. citizen
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Not less than 17 years old by September 1 of year starting college and no more than 23 on December 31 of that year
- SAT minimum: Math 520; Critical Reading 530. ACT minimum: Math 21; English 22
- Have no more than 30 semester hours of college credits
- Physically qualified
- Morally qualified and possess officer-like qualifications and character as evidenced by appearance, academics, extracurricular activities and community involvement
- If already enrolled in your first year of college, apply for the Navy ROTC non-scholarship College Program with the Hampton Roads Navy ROTC Unit by April 1.
General eligibility requirements:- U.S. citizen
- At least 17 years of age but less than age 27 on December 31 of the year an applicant expects to graduate, complete all NROTC training requirements and be commissioned.
- Meet physical requirements
- Morally qualified and possess officer-like qualifications and character as evidenced by appearance, academics, extracurricular activities and community involvement
- Admitted to Regent University as a full-time student
- Minimum 2.5 College GPA

- The Navy ROTC Four-Year National Scholarship Program covers four years of tuition and fees, a stipend for text books and a $250 living allowance per academic month (which increases by $50 each year). This scholarship is available for students studying in one of three areas: Navy, Marine Corps or Nursing.

Some students show great promise through their grades, activities and character. However, their standardized test scores and/or financial challenges limit their ability to compete for and commission through traditional Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) scholarships. NPP at Regent University provides an unparalleled opportunity for prospective Navy Option Midshipmen, offering access to resources and training critical for success in earning a commission in the Navy. The core mission of NPP is to bolster the moral, mental, and physical foundations of midshipman candidates. Participants selected for NPP will receive a comprehensive scholarship covering tuition, room and board, and fees for the preparatory year at Regent University. Upon completing all preparatory program requirements, students will be eligible to receive a 4-Year NROTC Scholarship from the U.S. Navy. Throughout the preparatory year, students will engage in numerous NROTC activities, enhancing their mathematics, English, and leadership skills. Additionally, selected students must attend and complete the New Student Indoctrination in Great Lakes, Illinois, during the summer of 2024 before commencing the preparatory program at Regent University. It is important to note that this program is exclusively available to individuals aspiring to become Navy Option Midshipmen.
To begin your NROTC Preparatory Program Application (NPP) application, please apply online through the NPP application portal, which is the first link below. After you submit your online application, you will receive an email with detailed instructions for submitting additional required documents. The documents can be downloaded via the links in the email or below. After downloading the documents and completing them, send them according to instructions in the email or send them to military@regent.edu. All application materials must be submitted by the March 8, 2025 deadline. To be eligible for NPP, you must be accepted into an on-campus Bachelor of Science program in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field at Regent University. Please be aware that admission to NPP is competitive, and selections are made on a rolling basis, which means the program may reach capacity before the March 8, 2025, deadline. Therefore, early application is encouraged. Applications will be reviewed for eligibility upon completion. Those meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered for final selection into the program. To be eligible for the NROTC Preparatory Program, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Be a United States citizen
- Have no moral obligations or personal convictions that will prevent bearing of arms and supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic or to taking an oath to perform such acts
- Be at least 17 years of age on or before September 1 of the year of enrollment and less than 27 years of age on December 31 of the year an applicant expects to graduate, complete all NROTC training requirements, and be commissioned. Those with prior or current active duty in the Armed Forces may be granted age waivers equal to the number of months served. Those granted the maximum age waiver must not have reached their 30th birthday by December 31 of year graduation and commissioning are anticipated
- Meet physical requirements
- Have the intention of commissioning as an Officer in the U.S. Navy (Marine Option MIDN are not eligible for this scholarship)
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent certificate
- Be accepted for admission as a full-time student at Regent University
- Once the preparatory year has been successfully completed, the student will be awarded a 4-Year NROTC Scholarship if the following conditions are met:
- Obtain medical clearance from Department of the Navy
- Pass the Navy’s Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA)
- Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
- Agree to the terms of the scholarship contract
- Receive the Professor of Naval Science’s recommendations
- Receive Regent University’s endorsement
