Nick Artman, Ph.D.
Bio
Dr. Nick Artman joined Regent University in Fall 2026 as the Margaret L. Lesher Director of Student Media and Associate Professor of Journalism in the School of Communication & the Arts. His teaching areas include broadcast journalism, digital media production, sports journalism, podcasting, and student media.
Before joining Regent, Dr. Artman served as an Associate Professor of Communication, Media, and Sport Management at Slippery Rock University, where he taught courses in sports journalism, sports production, digital media production, audio production, podcasting, advertising, and digital radio. He also served as Chief Operator and Faculty Advisor for WSRU-FM, SRU’s student-run FM radio station. His broader career includes work as a radio host, podcast producer, instructional designer, and digital content creator. He co-founded and hosted the Gem City Sports Network and served as Executive Producer and Host of Flagship City Sports Talk on Talk Erie 105.9 FM.
His research draws from media ecology, instructional media, sports broadcasting, and podcasting, with a focus on how media environments shape human behavior, perception, learning, emotion, and culture. A Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native, Dr. Artman enjoys serving on worship teams as a guitarist, watching sports, listening to fantasy football podcasts, and spending time at the beach with his family.
