ReelDreams Film Competition

Competition Overview:

The ReelDreams Film Competition is an exciting opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to make a short redemptive film (3 to 5 minutes), have that film critiqued by industry professionals, and potentially win a full-tuition scholarship to Regent University's School of Communication & the Arts (for graduate degrees) or School of Undergraduate Studies. The top 7 finalists will receive an all-expense paid VIP weekend trip (travel not included) to Virginia Beach, Va., for the live event on March 31, 2012, where the grand prizewinner will be announced.

What kind of films are we looking for?

What does it mean to make a "redemptive film?" In a redemptive film, characters may face moral dilemmas resulting in negative or positive consequences. The piece may be a cautionary tale warning against negative behaviors or attitudes, or the protagonist will make a difficult, yet ultimately good, decision serving as inspiration for the audience. We are looking for a compelling and well-executed story that will impact the audience. Make the audience laugh. Make the audience cry. But above all, win your audience over. Film submissions must not exceed the 3- to 5-minute time limit.

Why should you enter the ReelDreams Film Competition?

  • Compete for a full-tuition scholarship from an award-winning film school.
  • Have industry professionals watch, review and critique your work.
  • Place in the top 20 filmmakers, and you will be awarded a scholarship to either Regent University's School of Communication & the Arts or School of Undergraduate Studies.
