Teacher Education Goals

  • Students will identify and effectively implement best teaching practices
  • Students will always exhibit moral and ethical behavior in student, parent, and stakeholder interactions 
  • Students will be knowledgeable of and appropriately apply adolescent growth and development theory and concepts
  • Students will demonstrate effective communication skills and be skilled in classroom management techniques
  • Students will integrate student centered technology into their teachings
  • Students will identify learning areas of need for student(s) and adjust instruction to meet the need of student(s)
  • Students will be knowledgeable of scientific and mathematical concepts taught in elementary grades and positively impact student learning and achievement when teaching those concepts 
  • Students will be familiar with and utilize Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) instructional resources
  • Program completers will demonstrate competency on national assessments (PRAXIS I/II) and Virginia teacher licensure assessments (RVE/VCLA)
