Daniel L. Dreisbach, a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, where he earned a Ph.D., also holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia and a B.A. from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg. He served as a clerk on the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. His scholarly articles have appeared in such journals as the American Journal of Legal History and Constitutional Commentary. Among his books are The Founders on God and Government, Thomas Jefferson and the Wall of Separation, Religion and Politics in the Early Republic, and Real Threat and Mere Shadow: Religious Liberty and the First Amendment. He serves as a professor in the School of Public Affairs at the American University.
