Employment Opportunities - School Counseling

This program provides the academic and applied training necessary for someone seeking employment as a certified school guidance counselor in a public or private school setting. In particular, the School Counseling program meets the licensure requirements to be a school guidance counselor in Virginia (K-12), and has reciprocity with many other states that recognize the Virginia license. In addition, students may combine the school track with the community track in order to meet the educational requirements for licensure with the Virginia Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. With the people and critical thinking skills obtained throughout the program, employment opportunities may extend beyond contemporary counseling settings. For information regarding employment opportunities of which the school is aware, visit the Career Services area of the website.
