Regretta Ruffin, D.Min.

Bio

Dr. Regretta Ruffin began serving as an assistant professor at the Regent University School of Divinity in July 2023.

A native of northwest Washington, D.C., Ruffin is the daughter of Deacon Julia M. Burruss and the late Reverend R. Burruss, Sr., the first African American Radio and TV personality preacher in the Metropolitan Area and founder of the Gospel Hour.

Dr. Ruffin received a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University, a Master of Theology, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Richmond Virginia Seminary.

Dr. Ruffin has been the senior pastor and overseer of the Greater New St. Paul Baptist Church for 33 years while serving as a transitional pastor for several churches in the Metropolitan Area.

She is a founding partner of the John C. Maxwell Team of Certified Coaches, Teachers, Mentors, and Speakers, which trains pastors and leaders worldwide. She has received several governor’s Citations and Awards, including the Volunteer Service Award from former President Barack Obama.

Dr. Ruffin served as President of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Alexandria, Virginia, and Vicinity for three terms; President of The Washington Metropolitan Ministerium for three terms; Past Vice President of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Baltimore and Vicinity; Recording Secretary of the Baptist Convention of D.C. and Vicinity; and Past President of the Mt. Bethel Baptist Educational Congress.
