LEAD (Leaders, Elders, Ambassadors, Deacons) Foundations for Church Leadership Curriculum

LEAD (Leaders, Elders, Ambassadors, Deacons) Foundations for Church Leadership Curriculum

William Verdon, II | 2025

Abstract

The Leader, Elder, Ambassador, and Deacon (LEAD) curriculum is a comprehensive church leadership development program designed to equip emerging and existing leaders with the theological, spiritual, and practical competencies necessary for transformative leadership within the local church. Rooted firmly in Biblical principles and historic Christian traditions, the LEAD curriculum addresses the urgent need for structured and theologically sound leadership training that prepares individuals to serve as leaders, elders, ambassadors, and deacons. Recognizing the complex and evolving challenges faced by contemporary churches, this curriculum adopts a structured, curriculum-based approach to ensure consistent, culturally adaptable, and spiritually grounded leadership development. The LEAD program not only emphasizes theoretical instruction but also prioritizes the practical application of leadership and discipleship practices, cultivating leaders who can effectively translate theological knowledge into actionable ministry strategies. Through the LEAD curriculum, churches will benefit from the multiplication of spiritually mature leaders capable of fostering discipleship, promoting organizational health, and leading their congregations with Christ-centered wisdom and effectiveness. Ultimately, the LEAD curriculum offers a transformative educational pathway that contributes meaningfully to the long-term vitality and mission of the local and global church.

Maritime Readiness Failure: United States Navy

Maritime Readiness Failure: United States Navy

Luz T. Weitzel | 2025

Abstract

The United States Navy is suffering from crippling readiness problems which require immediate attention. Mounting maintenance backlogs, manning, exhaustion, a shrinking and failing fleet, and non-essential policies are hindering a once great fleet. Wasteful spending and a wandering mission statement have allowed countries, like China, to grow larger and more technically advanced fleets. Meanwhile, other countries have implemented changes that saved large amounts of money while maximizing equipment life and maintenance. Further hindering the Navy is a lack of enlistment and retention. Polices that do not focus on national security have been implemented that have caused distaste and deterrence. Shipbuilding has significantly lacked for over a decade and longer. This book discussed these issues in detail and provides a plethora of evidence, including a variety of reports from the Government Accountability Office. Further, it offers detailed solutions, and implementation plans for each issue. Some solutions offer answers to these problems and others applicable today, like immigration. The United States Navy must find its way back to the top while adhering to and abiding by its mission. Can the Navy reclaim its former glory?

Regent University Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program: New Emergency Management and Leadership Concentration Curriculum for the Robertson School of Government

Regent University Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program: New Emergency Management and Leadership Concentration Curriculum for the Robertson School of Government

Jeffrey C. Westling | 2025

Abstract

The world is entering a prolonged era of compounded and cascading crises, ranging from increasingly severe natural disasters and pandemics to geopolitical instability, infrastructure degradation, cyberattacks, other human-caused threats, and institutional mistrust. These threats are no longer hypothetical; they are present, intensifying, and revealing critical gaps in our ability to anticipate, absorb, and recover from disasters and disruptions. Scripture forewarns of an escalation in such events as the return of Jesus Christ approaches, describing them as “birth pangs” of a creation groaning for redemption (Matthew 24:6-8; Luke 21:10-11; Romans 8:22). These mounting signs demand not only greater preparedness, but a new generation of leaders who are spiritually discerning, ethically grounded, and strategically equipped to serve communities with foresight, moral courage, wisdom, and conviction.

This Doctor of Strategic Leadership project presents the development of a new three-course Emergency Management and Leadership concentration within the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at Regent University’s Robertson School of Government. This new course of study addresses the urgent demand for crisis leaders who can navigate complexity, lead across institutions, and embed resilience into systems before disasters strike. It prepares students to respond to today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment by uniting academic excellence with a robust biblical worldview. Through a comprehensive curriculum that integrates emergency management theory, crisis leadership models, strategic planning, and biblical ethics, students will be equipped to lead effectively in anticipation of and in response to disasters and crises. Students will gain fluency in emergency management frameworks, strategic foresight, crisis communication, and interagency coordination while developing as servant and transformational leaders who embody the principles of stewardship (1 Peter 4:10), prudence (Proverbs 8:12, 22:3), and faithful vigilance (Matthew 24:42-44).

This concentration is not merely academic; it is transformational. Graduates will be equipped to lead public, nonprofit, military, and faith-based organizations by bringing strategic direction and moral authority to environments marked by volatility and fragmentation. Students will learn to embed resilience into their organizations’ policies, infrastructure, and culture, ensuring that preparedness and mitigation are integrated into core operations. These leaders will serve as stabilizing forces during disasters, bridge-builders across institutions, and advocates for vulnerable populations by bringing clarity in confusion, order in chaos, and hope in hardship.

Ultimately, this DSL project advances the mission of the Robertson School of Government by forming ethical, transformational, and servant leaders who embody the highest standards of public service and are prepared to lead faithfully in the face of escalating crises. It reinforces Regent University’s commitment to shaping principled change agents who respond to the world’s most pressing challenges and do so as instruments of peace, restoration, and Kingdom impact. As future crises emerge with increasing speed and severity, this concentration offers both a timely academic innovation and a Kingdom response to prepare the leaders our world cannot afford to be without.

Drivers of Organizational Culture for Enhanced Performance at Kenyatta National Hospital

Drivers of Organizational Culture for Enhanced Performance at Kenyatta National Hospital

Rose Nyabanda | 2025

Abstract

This study examines the key drivers of organizational culture and their impact on performance at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Nairobi, Kenya. Organizational culture (OC) encompasses shared values, beliefs, and behaviors that shape employee interactions and decision-making. In healthcare, OC is crucial in determining patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and overall institutional efficiency. This research focuses on five key drivers of OC: leadership, knowledge sharing and communication, quality and safety culture, teamwork and collaboration, and employee engagement and satisfaction.

A cross-sectional descriptive research design, utilizing a mixed-methods approach, was employed. Quantitative data was gathered through structured surveys from 363 employees, while qualitative insights were obtained from key informant interviews and focus group discussions. Data analysis included descriptive and inferential statistics to establish relationships between organizational culture elements and performance metrics. The findings reveal that strong leadership, effective communication, and a focus on quality and safety significantly enhance performance. Moreover, teamwork and employee satisfaction contribute to a collaborative work environment, improving healthcare outcomes and operational efficiency.

The study highlights critical gaps, including the need for context-specific leadership models, improved interdepartmental collaboration, and better integration of technology for knowledge sharing. It recommends leadership enhancement, strengthened communication strategies, continuous quality improvement, and employee engagement initiatives. These findings provide actionable insights for KNH, a large public referral hospital in East Africa, and similar institutions, enabling the adoption of targeted interventions to foster a positive organizational culture and improve healthcare service delivery.

Abstract

This study explored the perceptions of multinational corporation CEOs concerning the impact of strategic thinking on the development of competent and effective global leaders to understand how these corporations integrate strategic thinking in developing leadership development programs in the United States. This study employed a qualitative descriptive research design. The target population comprised chief executive officers (CEOs) from different multinational companies in the United States. The researcher employed purposive sampling based on the researcher’s understanding of the target population to select a sample size of 10 participants. A semi-structured interview was used to collect rich, qualitative data from participants. The researcher used the thematic analysis method to analyze the participants’ responses. The findings revealed that strategic thinking influenced the development of competent global leaders by enhancing their decision-making skills, ability to anticipate challenges and develop potential solutions, creativity, and ability to adapt to new business environments. Moreover, the results indicated that multinational corporations used training and mentorship programs and assessments to integrate strategic thinking into leadership development programs and create competent future leaders in the complex global business environment. This research contributes to developing effective leadership development programs using strategic thinking to create global leaders. This calls for future research to determine the impact of strategic leadership development programs on the performance of multinational corporations in the United States.

A Leadership Training Program for Public Servants in Nigeria

A Leadership Training Program for Public Servants in Nigeria

Sam Abayomi Otenaike | 2025

Abstract

The Nigerian public service, particularly at the local government level, is crucial in national development and governance. Nevertheless, poor leadership, corruption, inadequate accountability, and weak institutional frameworks have made service delivery almost impossible. Declining trust in governance, slow economic development, and continued underdevelopment, especially in rural areas, have resulted from inefficiencies in public service. Nigeria’s existing public service reform initiatives, like the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and Service Compact for Nigerians (SERVICOM), have been instituted to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency, but successful implementation has proven difficult.

This project aims to design a leadership training program for public servants in Nigeria to improve service delivery by closing identified leadership gaps, putting public administration in tandem with proven best practices, and ultimately promoting national development bottom-up from the grassroots. The project uses the guiding framework of the Servant and Transformational Leadership Theories to outline public leaders’ roles in meeting the needs of their followers and stakeholders, fostering creativity and innovation in service delivery, and formulating and communicating vision and strategy. The methodology compares leadership development programs in Nigeria and some African countries, case studies from the UK and Singapore, and draws lessons incorporated into the training program.

The leadership training program output is structured as a values-based, three-tiered manual comprising the Basic, Intermediate, and Executive Modules to address the distinct developmental needs of local government officers at different career stages.

Exploring the Journey of a Woman from Grief to Empowerment: The Role of Self-Leadership Principles in Overcoming Betrayal and Loss

Exploring the Journey of a Woman from Grief to Empowerment: The Role of Self-Leadership Principles in Overcoming Betrayal and Loss

Greta Parrish | 2025

Abstract

Transformation and change are life cycles of every being; therefore, they are essential parts of being human. Women are known to be strong and face challenges to transform and empower themselves. Therefore, an attempt is made to rebuild and recover from shattered life experiences through self-leadership. By introducing this manuscript, I aim to establish whether or not women are active agents in determining their recovery pathway after experiencing betrayal or loss. Such turbulent experiences can greatly alter one’s life.

Through personal narratives, reflections, and expert leadership insights, this manuscript offers strategies, coping mechanisms, and tools to help individuals navigate the complex emotions of grief, betrayal, and healing in the aftermath of devasting news from a self-leadership perspective. The shadows of betrayal linger long after the wounds have healed, casting doubt on the foundations of our most cherished relationships and testing the limits of forgiveness. From the searing pain of a shattered illusion to the slow, painstaking process of rebuilding trust, the journey through betrayal is fraught with emotional turmoil and existential questioning.

Self-leadership calls us to take ownership of our thoughts, emotions, and actions, empowering us to navigate life’s challenges with courage and grace. It is a journey of self-discovery and self-compassion, a testament to our strength to rise above adversity and reclaim our sense of urgency. The audience targeted in this manuscript utilizing self-leadership to navigate the grieving process could include individuals who are currently experiencing grief or who have experienced a significant loss of a loved one, a meaningful life change, or a traumatic event. This manuscript will offer guidance, strategies, and support to help them cope with their emotions, find meaning in their loss, move toward healing and acceptance, and become the best version of themselves by living according to God’s ordained purpose and plan.

Therefore, this manuscript addresses the following question: “How can self-leadership principles assist in providing transformative potential, ultimately empowering a woman who has faced betrayal and loss to reach a point of healing?” Research exploring the transformative potential of grief, including betrayal and loss, especially within the context of counseling or consulting, reveals that such work is inevitable.

The revelation of a husband’s adultery during the most critical phase of his life presents substantial psychological as well as emotional challenges. In time the scars that once dictated our mere existence suddenly will become symbols of our journey. The Holy Spirit has blessed us to rise above all our issues. God is bigger than any hurt or pain we may ever endure in life. He will lead us forward by forging connections to the word of God and developing relationships that are rooted in trust and authenticity. Ultimately, betrayal may alter our lives, but it does not define our identity; rather, it creates a pathway toward a more empowered future.

Bridging Generations: A Workshop on Cultivating Intergenerational Servant Leadership in the Workplace

Bridging Generations: A Workshop on Cultivating Intergenerational Servant Leadership in the Workplace

Kiera Phillips | 2025

Abstract

Now more than ever, the workplace is inundated with people from many different generations. Gen Z has fully begun to enter the workplace, and the struggle with adjustment is noticeable. Leaders struggle to connect with their younger followers, and new hires struggle to communicate with coworkers who have been in the workforce longer than them. This has created unnecessary conflict, and a significant disconnect that keeps organizations disunified.

The Bridging Generations workshop addresses bias among generations and each generation’s needs while promoting servant leadership and an “others first” approach to change an organization’s culture. The workshop promotes teamwork and provides opportunities for service within the organization’s community, ultimately showing organizations that the only way they can succeed is if they are united in their values and culture. Bridging Generations also allows organizations to practically apply aspects of intergenerational servant leadership to scenarios they would face on a typical day. This workshop was designed to last three days but can be adjusted as needed.

The research elements of this project focused on a practical basis for servant leadership, issues between generations, and ways to change an organization’s culture to better represent the organization’s values and what those within the organization are working toward. Bridging Generations attempts to reduce the gap between generations and create workplaces that benefit people from all generations.

Strategies For Event Professionals: Promotion of Health and Wellness within The Event Management Industry

Strategies For Event Professionals: Promotion of Health and Wellness within The Event Management Industry

Nathaline Poquie | 2025

Abstract

The event industry demands professionals to manage tight deadlines, high-pressure situations, and constantly changing requirements while prioritizing the health and wellness of attendees. The demanding nature of industry often leads to neglecting personal health and well-being, which can lead to burnout and impact on productivity (Andrews & Leopold, 2013). This project provides event professionals with practical strategies to enhance their physical and mental well-being, backed by research and valuable insights, to succeed in the challenging field of event management (Panjwani, 2022).

My final project (Strategies For Event Professionals: Promotion of Health and Wellness within The Event Management Industry) aimed to identify the key principles of events management by examining the background of professionals within the field. Event professionals are responsible for coordinating details, arranging with contractors, and ensuring smooth events like weddings, parties, conferences, and business meetings. They work long hours, juggling multiple tasks and coordinating diverse groups of people. The demand for event planners in the United States of America is high, with employment expected to rise at a greater rate than the average for all jobs from 2017 to 2028. Event organizers cater to individual clients and corporations with internal meetings and industry convention planning, providing job security due to the constant need for skilled assistance (Andrews & Leopold, 2013). Adaptability in scheduling is essential for event organizers, as they may be full-time during the planning phase and may work extra hours near deadlines. They must handle last-minute problems, travel to meet with customers or subcontractors, and ensure the big day goes off without a problem. Event professionals also work closely with clients to arrange caterers, the ideal venue, and other tasks. Their primary responsibility is alleviating the burdens of planning spectacular parties or corporate events by liaising with clients, vendors, and other specialists to realize their ideas.

Last, this project “Strategies For Event Professionals: Promotion of Health and Wellness within The Event Management Industry” was divided into two parts (Seminar and Online Courses). Strategies for promoting health and wellness in the event management industry were practical and meaningful to event professionals and their clients. Throughout the seminar and online courses, I emphasized the importance of the balance of work-life and wellbeing of both event professionals and consumers. These professionals were taught to set boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and improving time management and mental health because event management is a fast-paced field to navigate.

Church. Religion. Their Future. Can They Overcome Social Distractions?

Church. Religion. Their Future. Can They Overcome Social Distractions?

Michael Powell | 2025

Abstract

A great amount of research exists that speaks to the decline in church attendance, Christianity, and an associated rise in non-Christianity. This manuscript sounds a major alarm about that decline, the existence of which should cause all pastors, priests, and church leaders to acknowledge that the research is consistent in its message. An examination is conducted on social changes, where society’s non-acceptance of Christian standards has occurred in multiple countries over the past half century, which church leaders need to understand the causes of the social attitude change to reverse the trajectory of Christianity’s decline.

This manuscript brings to life those pieces of research, with explanations of historically significant social factors contributing to Christianity’s decline, a decline that, if allowed to continue, will bring Christianity to its demise. Historical factors have caused reverberations within society’s normally stable fabric and are contributors to changes in church doctrines, preaching, and societal changes that are now accepted as norms within the Christian church.

This manuscript explores the impacts, over time, of those historical factors along with the technological advances, fashion changes, and the quasi-merging of political and religious ideologies. The exploration herein places the Christian church in opposition to embracing the social reforms demanded within society, reforms that are non-Christian-based, such as homosexuality, female pastoring, and uncensored access to the Internet.

Scripture is presented as the most powerful tool available to churches to redirect social influences toward Christianity, and social media is presented as a powerful means to reach believers worldwide. The interaction of religion with science, technology, and societal influences is intertwined herein with scripture to bring forth the powerful scriptural foundation inherent in Christian churches, for use by all church leaders.
