The College of Arts & Sciences is partnering with St. Mary’s University, Twickenham London, to offer a signature 6-week, summer study abroad opportunity, exclusively for undergraduate students.

St Mary’s University, located just 30 minutes from central London on the beautiful River Thames, is an ideal place to spend a semester abroad. Offering great transport links locally and to the rest of UK and Europe, the campus has everything you need to feel at home. St Mary’s provides a high-quality academic and professional education. Founded in 1850, St Mary’s is the only Catholic university in London and the largest in the United Kingdom.

This trip is exclusively for undergraduate students.  Family members and friends will not be able to join you in residency at St. Mary’s.

The St. Mary’s Program Fee is a total of $7978. The non-refundable $2500 deposit will be applied toward the $7978. The $7978 is nonrefundable for any reason other than if the trip is canceled.

For Credit: All students who sign up for this experience must take ECON 101 (Regent University) and HIST 208 (Transfer Credit from St. Mary’s) and will see the following breakdown of expenses on their student account. You may use federal aid to cover your full student account balance.

Please refer to the Financial Aid Calendar for federal aid disbursement dates. If you DO NOT have federal aid to cover your balance in full, you must either: Pay in full OR enroll in the Tuition Installment Plan (TIP) by the Semester Check-In deadline. Failure to do so could put your registration in jeopardy of being dropped for non-payment. Both payments and enrollment in Tuition Installment Plan (TIP) can be done in your Genysis accounts under the Bill + Payment Center Tab.

What is included?

  • On-campus housing. You will share a twin room, on St. Mary’s campus.  Each room has a desk, chair, wardrobe, shelves, and sink with a shared kitchenette on-suite, containing a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron, and ironing board.
  • Daily breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday
  • Travel Insurance
  • Exclusive access to Tours of London
  • Free airport pick-up and drop-off service
  • Tuition for one, 5-credit St. Mary’s course, and one 3-credit, Regent course

Above stated price does NOT include:

  • Airfare to and from London
  • Dinners and Weekend meals
  • Books
  • Cancellation Insurance (optional)

Attendees are responsible for making their own flight arrangements and it is not included in the St. Mary’s Program Fee.

We ask that attendees not purchase airline tickets until you are contacted with confirmation by the program director, which should be in March.

Attendees will stay in shared rooms, on-campus at St. Mary’s in London, England, close to all campus facilities.  Single rooms are not available unless you have a documented disability, in which case, please contact the St. Mary’s program director before the deposit deadline (March. 3, 2025) at studyabroad@regent.edu.

Accommodations at St. Mary’s include a meal plan covering breakfast and lunch Monday- Friday. Meals are provided at the Refectory which has a range of healthy meals (including, vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and other dietary needs).  Additionally, there are restaurants, convenience stores, and supermarkets within walking distance of campus.

If you haven’t already ordered your passport, do it ASAP! You will not be able to travel without it. You can apply for a passport online or at a number of local agencies including the US Post Office. To find out more passport information or apply online visit the U.S. Department of State passport webpage. As a general rule, passports must be valid at least six (6) months beyond the date the traveler will exit the United States. Some airlines will not allow you to board if this requirement is not met.

Starting in January 2025, US Citizens will also need to apply for Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which is digital permission to travel to the UK.  This will affect Summer School students and there is more information on this link here.  It costs £10 and usually takes three days, but students will need to apply for this in advance.

Regent University Scholarships do not apply to the St. Mary’s Program Fee. Students may enroll in the Tuition Installment Plan (TIP) if they are paying out of pocket to cover this fee.

The GI Bill covers tuition, university fees but NOT the Study Abroad Program Fee. Please contact the St. Mary’s Program Director at studyabroad@regent.edu for additional questions.

This program can be rigorous, and some of the events may require demanding physical activities. Therefore, participants should possess the ability to:

  1. Walk between three to twelve miles each day on cobblestone sidewalks and dirt paths through an open field
  2. Stand for 30 minutes without sitting
  3. Climb multiple flights of stairs without assistance. Some European sites likely will not have accommodations such as elevators or rooms on the ground floor.
  4. Hear instructions in a group setting with environmental noise present
  5. Read and understand written instructions and signs
  6. Step in and out of buses or shuttles
  7. Older facilities outside the United States may not offer the same types of disability accommodations that are offered in the United States.
  8. Many buildings do not have air conditioning.
  9. Double-check to make sure your medications are legal in the UK.

Regent University may be unable to provide special accommodations for people with disabilities. If someone needs accommodation or assistance, please contact the St. Mary’s program director at studyabroad@regent.edu for additional questions.  Also, those who have a health or mental health condition that may interfere with participation in program activities, need to consult with their physician to determine if they are able to participate in a physically demanding study abroad program. The trip will be canceled should the number of applicants with deposits not reach the minimum by March 3, 2025 and a full refund of payments will be issued. All Regent undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences taking this course for credit should plan to check with their academic advisor to make sure this course will fit into their Approved Degree Plan before submitting your deposit. Travelers must be at least 18 years of age.

All American citizens are advised to register their time abroad for the trip with the U.S. State Department.

Econ 101, Introduction to Economics (3 credits), with Dr. Brian Baugus, will take place online, during the summer semester in a full-semester course, May 12, 2025 – August 16, 2025, with a required six-week, on-campus component in London, England from June 6, 2025 – July 20, 2025.

Additionally, all students will join their Regent University faculty member on-campus at St. Mary’s in London, England to study the following with St. Mary’s faculty:

“Enlightenment to Romanticism” (5 credits), which will transfer back to Regent University as HIST 208, Western Civilization II, from June 6, 2025 – July 20, 2025

Students must apply through Regent University to study abroad at St. Mary’s UniversityStudents must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be in good financial standing with Regent University and have a clear conduct record

Students will pay Regent University for the total program cost of $7,978.  Students will not pay anything directly to St. Mary’s. Federal Financial Aid can be used to cover the costs; however, Regent University discounts or scholarships cannot be applied.

The St. Mary’s Program Fee is a total of $7,978. The $2,500 deposit is due March 3, 2025, and will be applied toward the program cost. Students should only deposit if they have been contacted by the program director to do so.

IMPORTANT: The St. Mary’s Program Fee is nonrefundable for any reason except if the study abroad experience is canceled because the minimum number of 8 deposited participants is not reached by March 3, 2025.

The deadline for the remaining balance of $5478 is May 2, 2025.
