Honor Code
A Community of Honor
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” -Philippians 2:3-5 (NKJV)
An honorable life reflects the core values of Regent: Excellence, Integrity, and Innovation. A community of honor relies on each student’s self-governance and accountability among peers. Students must strive to be above reproach, inside and outside the classroom. Students are expected to complete their studies honestly, exhorting their peers to do so as well.
Trust is violated and honor is lost when lying, cheating, and stealing occur. Students are required to report violations of the Honor Code to the appropriate University officials. Failure to report a known incident of dishonesty is considered misconduct and will be treated as a violation of the Honor Code. Violations of the Honor Code will be addressed through the University’s student adjudication or academic integrity process outlined in the Student Handbook.
The Honor Code
All Regent students are expected to follow and uphold the Honor Code, which applies across all aspects of University life–on campus, off campus, and online. The Honor Code is:
“On my honor, I will conduct myself with honesty and humility. I will not lie, cheat, or steal, and I will encourage my peers to act with integrity. I will uphold a community of trust, respect, and responsibility.”
Honor Code Statement for Academic Assignments
“On my honor, I affirm that all work submitted to this course will be my own and I will not receive or give unauthorized assistance for any course assignment.”
The Student Handbook contains all information regarding violations of the Honor Code. Students, staff, and faculty are required to report known violations of the Honor Code and include all evidence available.
