Abstract
Big Data has undergone a remarkable growth since the turn of the 21st century, driven by the role of business intelligence in building reporting capabilities, the explosion of social media, and the widespread adoption of the Internet of Things. Henceforth, digital transformation has had a holistic impact on global maritime trade, making data analytics an integral part of the business landscape. As a result, Big Data has significantly impacted business activities in port security, trade route efficiency, and sustainability. My goal is to demonstrate the significance of Big Data in today’s competitive work environment, with a focus on its volume, variety, and velocity in this current globalized era. The flow of Big Data has evolved, with past data used to inform descriptive analyses and future predictions. Essentially, once this process is integrated into the workflow, the outcome is revealed by applying prescriptive data analytics to assess business value over time. Given the unpredictable nature of the working environment, driven by socioeconomic changes and geopolitical unrest, global leaders must embrace Big Data as a vital business tool to better manage expectations. The need for an ongoing implementation of technological advances and adaptation is critical, necessitating a focus on the competencies and requirements that will be required in the future. The integration of these two aspects can help leadership develop a more strategic understanding of the maritime landscape while maintaining a competitive edge. By improving transparency and making everyone accountable for their actions, the workforce can remain adaptive to prevent cyberattacks while complying with regulatory guidelines. When leaders and followers embrace automation and real-time data, the maritime business can certainly navigate towards a more credible, futuristic work environment driven by technological innovation.
