DUNAMIS LEADERSHIP
DUNAMIS LEADERSHIP – Allowing the Holy Spirit to empower you to lead like Jesus
Rob Chambers | 2024
Abstract
What is “dunamis leadership”? The term “dunamis” occurs 120 times in the Bible and is commonly associated with the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit poured out on the Day of Pentecost. Sadly, many well-meaning Christians go about their day relying on their own strength, gifts, and talents, and completely miss out on the full resources of heaven.
Recent Barna research revealed that almost two-thirds of professing Christians believe that the Holy Spirit is merely a symbol and not an equal member of the Trinity.1 Many pulpits do not teach Biblical worldviews, contributing to the confusion.2 There is even a recent movement of “cessationism” that denies that the Holy Spirit’s gifts and empowerment are available today!
Following the Last Supper and before the final journey to Golgatha, Jesus gathered His disciples for one final, powerful conversation in the Upper Room. Among the many truths He revealed to them in John 14-16, one statement must have seemed puzzling at first glance:
“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you ” (John 16:7, NKJV; emphasis added).
Indeed, Jesus fulfilled His promise to send the Holy Spirit to His believers initially following His resurrection (John 20:22) and then later at the Feast of Pentecost (Acts 1-2). Among the many roles the Spirit would fulfill, Jesus said He would be our Counselor or Helper (John 14:26; 16:13) and Spirit of Truth (John 14:17) to guide us into all truth.
Dunamis Leadership will walk you through a Biblically sound understanding of the Trinity and highlight some pitfalls as to why Christians shun the Holy Spirit. It will also offer both practical suggestions on following Holy Spirit’s leading as well as numerous testimonies from Christ-followers in secular business and ministry on the supernatural impact that dunamis leadership can have. I am convinced that if you submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit, you, too, will flourish in new and amazing ways that you never thought possible.
