Abstract

This project features the design and implementation of a comprehensive graduate-level course titled, “Cross-Cultural Experiences & Global Leadership”. The course framework focuses on helping students build their abilities to work across cultures, develop skills in international communication and discover their potential to lead globally. Key components include the application of cultural-lens theory, intentional emotional-intelligence strategies for navigating cross-cultural and interpersonal dynamics, and guided preparation for the travel-component in which students engage with a host-country education system, history, and cultural context. Special attention is paid to managing the complex processes of intercultural re-entry and reverse culture shock, supporting students as their sense of cultural identity evolves. The course also integrates mindfulness and self-assessment practices to deepen reflective capacity in global leadership contexts. The project comprehensively documents the syllabus, learning objectives, module structure, viable resources, and articulates how this pedagogical design advances student readiness for ethical, person-to-person engagement, global leadership and experiential education. The outcome is a replicable and adaptable model for higher-education programs seeking to cultivate culturally aware, emotionally resilient, and globally engaged leaders.
