An extraordinary day needs an extraordinary venue. If you are looking for wedding or event venues in Virginia that will be the perfect backdrop for your special day, consider Regent. Experience the beauty of a 70-acre campus that ranked among the top 10 most beautiful Christian colleges and universities in the South in 2017, according to Christian Universities Online. If you, as an event planner or outside group, would like to rent space on Regent’s campus in Virginia Beach, please take a look at the information provided below. We welcome your inquiry.

Weddings

Reflecting the classic Georgian architecture of the Regent University campus, this distinctive physical structure is the central place of connectivity for the Regent community. Inspired by St. Martin-in-the-Fields — a London church with medieval roots that represents, for many, the archetypal church design — the 22,164 sq. ft. building features a 970-seat sanctuary for weddings, special events and worship.

Seating Capacity

The maximum capacity is 970. The chapel is available for weddings of all sizes.

Please review the general and facilities use policies in this section before completing the facilities use application.

GENERAL WEDDING POLICIES

Booking

Wedding ceremonies in the Regent Chapel may be scheduled up to nine (9) months in advance. The chapel is the only space available on campus for a wedding ceremony.

Reception Hall

We strongly encourage bridal parties using the chapel for their wedding ceremony to consider using space at The Founders Inn and Spa for their reception.

Regent will consider renting space for a reception only if a wedding is scheduled at the Regent Chapel. The beautiful library atrium is used as a reception venue, with the Founders Inn or the Regent Ordinary used exclusively for catering.

Regent University is unable to accommodate wedding receptions on campus unless contracting to hold the ceremony in the chapel.

Catering

You may contact Brittany Duarte at The Founders Inn and Spa at 757.366.5814.

No Smoking/No Alcohol/No Drugs Policy

Regent University forbids the use of alcohol, illicit drugs, and tobacco on campus and prohibits the abuse of these substances.

Dancing

As the propriety of certain types of dancing is interpreted differently by individuals, and since the volume of music may be so loud as to interrupt our students in the library, the only dancing permitted in the library atrium is ballroom style.

General questions

Administrative Services – adminservices@regent.edu | 757.352.4008 (Ph.) | 757.352.4039 (Fax)

Please view the policies below and let us know how we may serve you.

Property

All groups and individuals who have been approved by Administrative Services may use university facilities, with priority being given to those whose activities are directly related to the mission of the university. All such activities must be in harmony with God’s work at the university. The name Regent University is to be linked only with those programs clearly endorsed and sponsored by the university. Events are generally considered on a case-by-case basis, with care taken to ensure that the event will not interrupt the quiet usage of the library or other spaces by Regent University students and library patrons. Groups or individuals wishing to use the general facility should complete the Facility Use Application, and send it to Administrative Services for processing. Outside group events may not be scheduled farther in advance than four (4) months as Regent events have priority on all spaces.

Outside groups

Outside groups are defined as groups NOT hosted by an on-campus affiliate with objectives that do not directly support the mission of the University. Facility Use charges are incurred for outside group requests, and a Facility Use Agreement signed.

Please note there are certain holidays when Regent’s special event departments are unable to support outside group events. For a complete listing, please see our Holiday Blackout Schedule.

No Smoking/No Alcohol/No Drugs Policy

Regent University forbids the use of alcohol, illicit drugs, and tobacco on campus and prohibits the abuse of these substances.

The University Does Not Allow

  • Church groups to use the facilities on a weekly basis for services.
  • Regular room rental with the exception of bar review courses.
  • Wedding ceremonies or receptions, unless completely coordinated and catered by The Founders Inn or Regent Ordinary.
  • Personal parties such as birthday or anniversary parties in any space except the Regent Ordinary.
  • Meetings or events which may reflect poorly on the overall mission of the university.

Procedure

To secure a room for an outside event, complete the Facility Use Application. You may email the application to Administrative Services or fax to 757.352.4039. If there are questions, you may email or phone 757.352.4008. After permission is granted, a Facility Use Agreement will be prepared for signature. An invoice will be prepared, with payment due and payable to Regent University before the event may commence.

If Housekeeping reports that any group has abused university property, the university has the right to refuse future use by that group.

Photo Shoot Sessions

Regent University, as a service to the Hampton Roads community, will allow its campus to be used for photography sessions. Our campus is commonly used for bridal photos.
