“Peregrinatio Pro Christo”: An outdoor Celtic Eucharist – The Protestant Student Fellowship (PSF)

The PSF invites you to partake in an outdoor Eucharist this St. Patrick’s Day, honoring the legacy of Celtic Christianity within the Protestant tradition of Anglicanism. Learn about the historical significance of Celtic Christianity to Anglicanism, in addition to discovering the ancient Celtic Christian practice of “peregrinatio pro Christo” or “exile for Christ” into the wilderness of the British Isles away from all worldly possessions up to and including one’s own home. We invite you to use this hour as a moment to undertake your own “exile” alongside your fellow students in the “wilderness” of Regent’s natural beauty, to be reminded of the creation our Lord has graciously left for us to enjoy and to imitate Christ’s own solitary journey into the wilderness of Israel as a spiritual practice.

This will be the first in a series of three outdoor Eucharists this semester, each of which will focus upon historically held outdoor liturgical services from the three streams of the Magisterial Reformation (Anglicanism, Calvinism, and Lutheranism). The Huguenot “Assemblée du Desert” will be held around April 13th honoring the persecution of French Calvinists, and the “Hundskirche” will be held the second to last week of the semester honoring the persecution of Lutherans in Austria.
