Regent’s Master of Science in Cybersecurity with a concentration in Cybersecurity Practitioner focuses on relevant hands-on practice to prepare for in-demand industry certifications. You can gain the knowledge and skill application needed to become a cybersecurity engineer, analyst or tester. You can also learn to analyze threats; design secure computing and network environments; proactively defend networks; and respond and investigate cybersecurity incidents that threaten your organization’s cyber network. Essential understanding of the architecture of a Linux operating system. Includes hands-on labs for installing and maintaining workstations, working at the Linux command line, handling files, and providing system security. Practice includes performing maintenance tasks, user administration, data integrity, and system maintenance.
Key principles of the network physical layer, applications, and security. Real-world example networks and hands-on labs are integrated for the development and testing of student created network protocols.
Hands-on exercises within Regent’s cyber range to implement basic cyber security principles. Labe exercises to reinforce key industry certification topics and live fire hands-on incident response scenarios. Requires some synchronous availability. Prerequisites: ISYS 324 or CYBR 524 or CompTIA Network+ certification or equivalent. Pass/No Pass. Cross-listed with CYBR 381.
Hands-on exercises within Regent’s cyber range to analyze threats, design/defend network environments, and respond/investigate cyber security incidents. Lab exercises include red/blue simulation exercises. Requires some synchronous availability. Prerequisites: ISYS 324 Networks and Telecommunication Concept, CYBR 524 Network Architecture and Protocols, CompTIA Network+ certification, or equivalent. Pass/No Pass. Cross-listed with CYBR 382.
Cyber defense practitioner skills through team collaboration and hands-on exercises within Regent’s cyber range to identify, analyze, defend, and secure against emerging presented threats. Lab exercises include incident response and systems analysis exercises which include debriefs and the construction of comprehensive Incident Response reports. Requires some synchronous availability. Prerequisites: ISYS 324 Networks and Telecommunication Concept, CYBR 524 Network Architecture and Protocols, CompTIA Network+ certification, or equivalent. Pass/No Pass. Cross-listed with CYBR 383.
Ethical principles, issues, and responsibilities associated with information systems security, cyber warfare, and ethical hacking. Identifying technological related ethical issues and the impact of personal ethics and organizational values on an ethical workplace.
Development of information systems security and assurance frameworks, policies, roles, responsibilities, practices, and procedures to include the basic principles of Information Assurance and Information systems Security.
Investigation of Internet and network architectures and procedures for preventing and addressing security vulnerabilities, threats, and attacks. Exploring security vulnerabilities and improved algorithms, protocols, and best security practices for public, private and enterprise systems.
Techniques of systems design, analysis and best practices in digital forensics. Presents methods to properly conduct a computer forensics investigation and to handle a cybersecurity incident.
Examination of information security management issues for government, corporations, and other organizations, including the planning, designing, implementing, managing, and auditing security at all levels. Cross-listed with GOV 530.
Development of business continuation and disaster recovery strategies and plans, including the methodology used to create and validate a plan for maintaining continuous business operations before, during, and after disruptive events.
Essential principles for network security and risk management. Prepares students for relevant industry certification. Prerequisites: Must be taken as the final course in the program. Prerequisites: CYBR 630, 635, 640, 645, and 650.
Provides the knowledge, resources, and essential skills needed for success at the graduate level. Topics include academic writing, online learning, information literacy, and advising and support services.
In this exploding age of information, it is the objective of the library faculty to prepare graduates to be on the cutting edge of information technology. Information literacy is the ability to effectively access information for problem solving and decision-making; thus, the knowledge and abilities you glean from this course will open doors to lifelong learning. It is imperative for graduate study research. Since the information learned in this course is a vital foundation for all other coursework, its completion is required within the first semester of study. The course takes approximately ten hours to complete.

All students are expected to check-in for the semester two weeks before the session start date. Students should apply, be accepted, enroll in their first courses, and confirm a plan to pay for their courses prior to this date.

Admissions Requirements

Step 1: Apply to Regent University

Submit your application using the Regent University Online Application.

Step 2: Submit Your Unofficial Transcripts

Submit your unofficial transcripts to regent.edu/items.

Upon submitting your application, you will receive an email requesting authorization for Regent University to obtain your official transcripts from your U.S. degree-granting institution. International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES, AACRAO or NAFSA approved agency.

Step 3: Submit Your Government-Issued ID

To ensure academic integrity, Regent University requires a copy of a government-issued ID. Please submit a scanned copy or photograph of it to regent.edu/items.
