Congresswoman Jen Kiggans Speaks at Regent University

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 20, 2026) — On February 18, Regent University welcomed Congresswoman Jen Kiggans to share her insights on leadership in public service with students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Congresswoman Kiggans, a retired Navy helicopter pilot and nurse practitioner, serves in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. representing Virginia’s Second Congressional District, which includes Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Franklin, along with parts of Accomack, Northampton, Isle of Wight, and Southampton Counties.

Attendees gathered in the Robertson Hall Moot Courtroom on Regent’s campus to hear Congresswoman Kiggans talk about her experience leading in government, first in the Virginia Senate and now on Capitol Hill. With a wide range of experience, Kiggans encouraged students aspiring to enter public service to find their motivation in all areas of life.

“I would encourage people who want to run for office to find the passions that they enjoy,” said Kiggans. “Have those careers, take that knowledge, and run for office. You can define yourself better. What drives me in politics and keeps me centered is my background and the different careers I’ve had the privilege of holding.”

Afterwards, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and receive advice from the Congresswoman. “I appreciated her being authentic and honest about running for Congress without making it seem insurmountable,” said Fahtisha Johnson, an MBA student in the School of Business and Leadership. “Her story is inspirational for everyone.”
