Gyertson Addresses Balance in the Christian Life

Dr. David Gyertson
"Working and Waiting by the Holy Spirit" was the title of Dr. David Gyertson's address on Wednesday, April 13. Gyertson is a distinguished professor in Regent University's School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship.
Speaking at Regent's weekly university chapel, Gyertson addressed the age-old question of balancing personal responsibility and God's power. "How do we know what we're supposed to do, and how do we know what God's supposed to do?" he asked. The answer, he said, is found in the Holy Spirit. Referencing several scriptures that describe the role of the Holy Spirit in the Christian, Gyertson stressed the need to sit back and allow God to work.
Gyertson was instrumental in Regent's founding, served as president from 1991-93 and then returning to the university in 2005 as a distinguished professor.
He also reaffirmed Regent's commitment to keeping Jesus Christ as the center of everything. "We welcome all kinds of folk, but understand you're going to hear a lot about Jesus [when you come]," he said.
That includes continual prayer for the university. In closing, Gyertson led the group in prayer for the university's leadership—President Carlos Campo, the Board of Trustees, deans and vice presidents.
In addition to serving as Regent's president, Gyertson has also served as president of both Taylor University and Asbury College. He has also hosted a nationally syndicated religious news program, sits on numerous executive boards and is a highly sought after business and ministry consultant.
