Dr. Carlos Campo
Following an extensive nationwide search, Dr. Carlos Campo has been named vice president for academic affairs by Regent University.
Dr. Campo comes to Regent from the College of Southern Nevada where he served as the interim vice president of academic affairs. He previously served that college as dean of Arts and Letters and director of academic partnerships. In addition, he helped pioneer the college's "Virtual College," called CSN Online Campus with a current enrollment of 17,000 students.
"Although Dr. Campo was recently a finalist for the position of president at both Santa Barbara City College and the College of Southern Nevada, we are delighted he chose to bring his more than 20 years of leadership and teaching experience to Regent," says Dr. M.G. (Pat) Robertson, founder and chancellor of Regent. "Because we are experiencing record growth, particularly in our School of Undergraduate Studies, we believe Dr. Campo is uniquely qualified to lead those efforts as well as the expansion of our graduate programs. His career has demonstrated a commitment to high academic standards and student success."
Dr. Campo began his career at the College of Southern Nevada as an English professor. He has also taught English at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and chaired the theater department at Dove College. He received his Ph.D. in English with a drama emphasis, his Master of Arts in English, and his Bachelor of Arts in Theater, all from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
"I have a sense of expectancy about what the future holds for this great university and am looking forward to joining its extraordinary leadership team," says Campo.
