Ginger Zillges accepts the Cite 2013 Excellence in Online Teaching Administrator award.
Ginger Zillges, assistant vice president of online learning and instructional technology at Regent University, recently received the Cite 2013 Excellence in Online Teaching Administrator award, sponsored by Pearson, an international education company that provides curriculum, learning tools and testing programs for all levels of education.
Zillges was chosen for her contributions and dedication to online learning at Regent. She oversees Regent's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) where she has developed an award-winning team of instructional designers and technologists. Navigating strategic partnerships, she has contributed to developing quality online curriculum, faculty development programs and support services.
"I was honored to receive the administrator award for online learning. Everyone wants to sense that the work they commit their life to will make a difference in the lives of others. My hope is that I have supported access to excellent educational opportunities for non-traditional adult students due to new instructional strategies and the affordances of technology," Zillges said. "I am grateful to serve at Regent where the faculty care about students but also challenge them to become academically empowered to better serve and lead in their chosen professions."
Pearson provided a $1,000 scholarship for a Regent student in honor of Zillges' award. In addition to leading CTL, Zillges is in her final year in the Instructional Design and Technology Ph.D. program at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
CTL previously received the Sloan-Consortium Award for Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching.
Regent has a strong commitment to quality online programs and participates in the Quality Matters Peer Review Program, a leader for quality assurance in online course design and instruction. Currently, Regent is ranked in the top ten of online bachelor degrees by U.S. News & World Report and also number one in the nation for faculty credentials and training in its online MBA program.
