The National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) recently accepted Regent University's Robertson School of Government (RSG) for membership.
NASPAA is the accrediting association for universities with public affairs and public administration programs. Membership brings RSG one step closer to having its new Master of Public Administration (MPA) fully accredited by the association, in addition to the program's recent approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
"Obtaining NASPAA membership is a blessing and a tremendous beginning to our MPA program," said Dr. Gary Roberts, RSG's interim dean and director of the MPA program. "It is an essential first step in obtaining full accreditation over the next five years."
The approval process for membership included a thorough application and review by the NASPAA Executive Council.
"A NASPAA membership is a demonstration of commitment to professional public service education and training," according to the organization's website. NASPAA members in good standing are entitled to apply for program accreditation, apply for establishing a Pi Alpha Alpha chapter (the national collegiate honor society for public administration students), participate in annual conferences, serve on committees and participate in all other NASPAA activities.
"Our rapid admission to membership reflects a high degree of credibility and confidence in our program and Regent University," said Roberts. "We are grateful for this opportunity."
