PsyD Internship Mock Interviews - Fall 2010
PsyD internship mock interviews have been developed to help you move past merely knowing how to interview well. They give you actual experience in and feedback on interviewing well so that you will approach your site internship interviews with greater preparation and confidence.
These interviews run a bit differently from others offered by the Center for Student Development. In order to optimize your preparation for and comfort with interviewing, this process will allow you to experience both sides of the interview table. Here's how this works.
- Partner up with another student from your cohort. They will serve as the site expert for your interview, and ideally, you serve as the site expert for their interview. CSD supplies an additional interviewer so that each of you is interviewed by a team of two, and each of you hears the viewpoints of both interviewers when receiving feedback. If your partner doesn’t want a mock interview himself/herself, he/she can still be your site expert.
- Select the site profile from those listed below that best matches the sites where you will be interviewing. Please note that these site profiles have questions/challenges at the end that your classmate/interviewer may wish to ask during your interview. Please contact Joel Ladd if none of these site profiles suits your needs and you wish to provide an alternative.
- Check the table below for available timeslots and select a time that works for you and your partner. Then contact Joel Ladd with your desired interview time, your selected site, and the name of your partner. If possible, please attach a copy of your CV to the email. If you and your partner are both receiving an interview, you will both need a 1-hour interview slot (interview plus feedback). It is most efficient to request back-to-back times (1-2 pm and 2-3 pm, e.g.). If you absolutely cannot interview in any of the available time slots, contact Joel to to see if an alternative time can be arranged. NOTE: CSD MAY BE UNABLE TO ACCOMODATE REQUESTS FOR INTERVIEWS MADE AFTER 10/30.

- Use the APAGS questions and these guidelines to help you prepare well for your interview. While you can learn a lot from the experience even if you don’t put a lot of time into preparation, you’ll find that the time you spend on the website preparing will be time well spent.
- You and your partner should come to the negotiation labs (Robertson Hall, Room 215) about 5-10 minutes before your time slot.
- You’ll get a few minutes to relax, and your partner will get a few minutes to strategize with his/her interview team-mate.
- I’ll send your partner a copy of your site profile and CV in advance so they can review them before the interview. NOTE: In order for this process to run smoothly, I must have your CV no later than one week before your interview.
- You will receive an interview and feedback (written and verbal) AND a DVD of your session.
Please contact the Joel Ladd if you have further questions.
