Regent University provides a wide array of academic support services to help you maximize your potential. Available to both online and on-campus students, each of our learning centers offers specialized training to help you improve the skills you'll need to succeed in college and beyond.
Center for Student Development
The Center for Student Development provides workshops that promote academic, professional and personal development.
Smarthinking
An online tutoring service offered to undergraduate students in a variety of subject areas including math and general writing. Students can access this service by logging into Blackboard and clicking on the Smarthinking link listed in the tools menu. Students are not charged additional fees for this service.
The Carpenter’s Apprentice
The Carpenter’s Apprentice is a module in Blackboard specifically designed to assist students on their academic and personal development journey. This is a self-guided workshop designed to help you assess your academic strengths, as well as your areas of growth opportunity, including:
- decision making, goal-setting, and note taking;
- online learning, organization, and learning styles;
- reading (for speed and comprehension), writing, and testing;
- stress management, time management, and using technology.
Once you have identified the areas on which to work, the course has a plethora of resources in each area to assist you. There are no instructors nor grades, nor are there any fees or time limits. This workshop was designed specifically to allow you to participate at the level most comfortable for you. However, as with most endeavors, the more you invest the more you will gain. Writing Center
The university's Writing Center provides coaching on writing assignments to help you improve communication skills and develop a writing style that will maximize your effectiveness. The Center's services are available to students in both online and on-campus degree programs and may be accessed over the phone or in-person with appointment.
